Jon Hamm befriends a blue monster in new Herman Dune video: Watch it here

A few weeks ago, EW.com premiered a new video from Low that starred John Stamos. In the wake of that video’s success, French indie rock duo Herman Dune have upped the ante on casting recognizable television stars in charmingly strange contexts (and also, in convertibles).

In the just-premiered clip for the back-from-hiatus’ band’s rootsy ramble “Tell Me Something I Don’t Know,” Mad Men star (and noted underdog comedy genius) Jon Hamm stars as a guy driving a convertible down a country road.

Watch below as Hamm picks up a hitchhiker in the form of a tiny blue monster puppet; his relationship with the little beastie is tentative at first, but eventually they grow to be best pals:

Cameron Crowe's Pearl Jam documentary: Watch the teaser here, and learn how they chose their name

Pearl Jam have been close with director Cameron Crowe for years (they even appeared in his 1992 movie Singles), and as part of their year-long 20th anniversary celebration—which also includes the release of deluxe reissues of Vs. and Vitalogy—Crowe is releasing a long-in-the-works documentary.

The short trailer for PJ20 (which you can watch after the jump) features vintage archival footage of the group discussing how they just changed their name to Pearl Jam. Originally, the group was called Mookie Blaylock, after a former NBA point guard (there’s even a shot of a marquee that touts Mookie Blaylock as the opening act for Alice In Chains).Legal issues forced them to change the name to Pearl Jam, and they’ve run with it ever since.

There’s a lot of terrible early ’90s fashion and plenty of goofing around in a van, which means that the film itself, scheduled to get released later this year, should reveal a lot about one of the most interesting and enduring bands in the world. Check out the brief teaser for yourself.

Karmin cover Lil Wayne's '6 Foot 7 Foot': So what now? We ponder the viral duo's career options

Karmin

Remember a few weeks ago, when wide-eyed indie duo Karmin covered Chris Brown’s “Look at Me Now”?

Bostonians Amy Heidemann and Nick Noonan are back for an encore, this time taking a bite out of Lil Wayne’s comeback single “6 Foot 7 Foot.” It’s not quite as technically impressive as Heidemann’s lightning-fast delivery of the Busta Rhymes verse on “Look at Me Now,” but it’s still an impressive approximation of Weezy’s raspy, free-association delivery (and Noonan’s re-creation of the beat is also pretty mind-bending). Watch it after the jump.

Lady Gaga on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show': 'I live halfway between fantasy and reality all times'

Categories: Lady Gaga, Pop, Television

We’ve already previewed today’s chat between superstar Lady Gaga and Ellen DeGeneres, but now we’ve seen the entertaining chit chat between the two ladies.

Looking kinda like a futuristic Norma Desmond, Gaga talked about her exhaustive Monster Ball tour (she claims she’s done a whopping 210 performances) as well as her motto for living (“I live halfway between fantasy and reality all times and that is who I am and what inspires me”).

Most amusingly, Gaga scolded DeGeneres, who opened the show by riding in on a giant shoe/roller skate, for trying to top Gaga’s theatricality. Joked Gaga, “I’m very upset about your entrance. I feel like you’re trying to outdo me. I’ve never done the shoe.”

Then, the flamboyant singer took to the stage for her first live performance of new single, “Judas.” Watch below: READ FULL STORY »

'Glee' star Matthew Morrison and 'American Idol' winner Kris Allen talk collaborating on new single, 'Still Got Tonight'

The worlds of two of Fox’s musical giants are colliding: Glee‘s Matthew Morrison and American Idol season 8 winner Kris Allen have collaborated on Morrison’s second single, “Still Got Tonight,” off Morrison’s solo album due May 10.

So how did these two superstars get together? Call it a happy accident. Allen originally wrote “Still Got Tonight” years ago, with songwriters Andrew Frampton and Steve Kipner, but ended up not using the track. Morrison then wound up working with Frampton and Kipner on his upcoming album and they brought the song to the Glee star. But Morrison didn’t realize that Allen was also involved in the song’s creation.  READ FULL STORY »

Morrissey calls the Royal Family 'scroungers'

In an interview with BBC radio, Morrissey has declared that he will not be watching tomorrow’s Royal Wedding. He also criticized the royals for being “benefit scroungers.”

“Why would I watch the wedding?” said the ex-Smiths singer. “I couldn’t take any of that seriously at all. I don’t think the so-called Royal Family speak for England now and I don’t think England needs them. I do seriously believe they are benefit scroungers, nothing else. I don’t believe they serve any purpose whatsoever. I’m not an anarchist but I believe that people don’t want the Royal Family. The so-called Royal Family. They’re not royal to me. But they’re royal to the media for some reason.”

Morrissey previously poked at Prince Charles on the title track of the seminal 1986 Smiths album The Queen is Dead: “I said Charles, don’t you ever crave / To appear on the front of the Daily Mail / Dressed in your mother’s bridal veil?”

American Idol‘s hottest judge won’t let us catch our collective breath. After Jennifer Lopez told her fans to get “On the Floor” with her first single and then teamed up with Lil Wayne for another love-crazy banger, she’s yet to slow things down.

Last night “Hynotico,” one of two tracks on her Love? album written by Lady Gaga, found its way onto the Internet. Just like her two prior singles, it’s an upbeat one. But instead of confessing her feelings to a special guy, the pop star is more than happy just teasing them. Check it out after the jump.

Metallica to work with Rick Rubin again: Five things they should keep in mind if they do

Metallica

It has been three years since Metallica released Death Magnetic, the combo’s ninth studio album and a bit of a callback to their earlier incarnation as a shred first, ask questions later juggernaut. Much of the credit for that album probably belongs to Rick Rubin, who produced Death Magnetic after four straight albums with Bob Rock behind the decks.

In news that will thrill some, Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo confirmed to a radio station that the band was headed back into the studio with Rubin for another album. They’ll have to wait until they’re finished with Big 4 business, which means they’ll have time to consider what they’re doing.

Because no matter what you thought of Death Magnetic (and I’ll put it out there right now that I was not a fan at all, though plenty of people thought it was great), there were some definite problems embedded within. So here are five things the band and Rubin should keep in mind while working on a new project.

50 Cent to debut comedy site. Can he bring the funny?

50 Cent has made a career out of rapping about his street supremacy, why women should sleep with him, and how shorties should dance (provided, of course, that said shorties are celebrating birthdays).

But until now, 50 has never really been funny. He does, however, have an ever-expanding Web empire (we’ll call it a wempire; make it viral, kids!), which gets a new arm tomorrow (Thursday, April 28) when ThisIs50Comedy.com makes its debut.

The site will be hosted by comedian and ThisIs50 contributor Young Jack Thriller (whose biggest contribution to Internet comedy so far is a series of fake and often offensive interviews with stars like Rihanna and Michael Vick), and it’s unclear at the moment whether or not 50 himself will be involved in any joke-telling or sketch-acting. But beneath that gruff exterior is a comedian waiting to break free.
