as a huge fan of this song (and of course of daren criss) i’m kinda disapointed, it actualy made me want to listen the original song
here’s the thing…what you guys hating the Warblers and autotune and overproduction tend to underestimate in the Warblers covers is the fact that Darren Criss seems to make people simply like him. The guy oozes confidence and charm and people extrapolate to “amazing voice” (which, granted he does not have) but he is an unbelievably talented sogwriter and musician, and a pretty decent singer. If he were half as charming hw oudl have never created such a huge fan following, which by the way he had even before Glee. So what I’m trying to say is that who cares he is not the best singer in the world, he is pretty amazing anyway you look at him….
I’ll agree with everything you said here, except that Darren doesn’t have a great voice. They autotune everybody so much on Glee that it’s hard to know, but download his EP “Human” from iTunes. It’ll change your opinion of him. Especially “Don’t You.” His live performance at “The Living Room” is also pretty fantastic. Man, I love him.
I found this like 3 days ago and every time I put it on I just end up clicking replay literally 30 times. One of glees best covers, combining ND and The Warblers is beautiful.
i heard this song original version in an episode of grey’s anatomy…like that version better..eventhough the warblers do a good version of it!
So is New Directions even the main group of Glee anymore? Whatever happened to Mercedes, Tina and Artie? They’ve been nothing by live props this whole season.
I agree that Mercedes, Tina, and Artie need MUCH more love, but I think it’s a little bit of an overstatement to say that New Directions aren’t the “main group” of Glee anymore. The Warblers have been in 9 of 16 episodes (by the end of the season they’ll have been in exactly half), and, with the exception of “Original Songs,” have only had one song per episode and less than 15 minutes of screen time. Pretty sure New Directions (and the stupid Finn/Quinn/Sam, Rachel/Finn/Quinn, Quinn/Sam/Santana, Santana/Brittany/Artie love octagon? polygon? I don’t even know) are still getting the bulk of the attention.
To clarify, that’s less than 15 minutes of screen time per episode (again, with the exception of “Original Songs”)
I love this version even more than the original. And considering what’s going on in this scene during the show, the emotion (the desolation in Darren’s voice) is spot on.
Yeah… that is maybe the reason why many fans prefer this song over “teenage dram”
teenage dream.
Nothing Criss can’t do…can we just make Glee all about him?
The Glee version is way over-produced and sugary, but he has a nice voice. Keane’s original is the one I would buy, tho. It’s more honest.
I love this song. I can’t wait for the next new episode of Glee. Darren is a dream and he and Chris Colfer are like magic together.
Nice version of the song…Darren’s voice sounds good but the original is just incredible. Tom Chapin until now has the definitive version, it was a great singer on a great song. Darren”s version doesn’t suck lemons though.
Get off your high horses. Glee did not ruin anything. Why don’t you quit your lame whining and let the fans enjoy a good cover? I personally have loved Keane for years, and while this version can’t possibly compare, I see it as a tribute and I like it for what it is. What is the big deal here?
I actually rather hate this version, but I’m a die hard Keane fan, so this isn’t surprising. I’m glad the band will get some exposure over this, but I just don’t like Glee. I don’t think a televison show about a teenage karaoke group should have more Bilboard hits than The Beatles. It just doesn’t sit well with me.
If it wasn’t for Glee , I would have never discovered this beautiful Keane song… And when it was performed in the Glee context: goodbye of the Warblers, I shed a tear… Somewhere only we know… Somewhere only Kurt, Blaine and the Warblers know and understand…
