British R&B songstress Estelle first charmed the music world with “American Boy,” her Grammy-winning 2008 collaboration with Kanye West.
Three years later, she’s back with a new single that finds her sharing time with another American Boy: The guest star this time out is Rick Ross, and the song is called “Break My Heart,” which you can hear after the jump.
The singer’s delicate voice gels especially well with the groovy lounge-lizard vibe of the track, and it turns the whole thing into a sort of bump-worthy torch song. (It’s been said before, but Estelle owes a lot to Roberta Flack.)
And while Ross’ booming delivery and burly voice threatens to turn the whole thing into dust, it actually skates nicely on the line between too much and not enough (in that sense, it’s the most well-balanced track Ross has ever been a part of).
What do you think? Is there too much Ross on an otherwise pretty song, or is it perfect as is? And are you looking forward to Estelle’s new album All of Me? Let us know in the comments below.

I didn`t know that she was compared to Roberta Flack, but she`s cool. I wish her the best in this crazy music world, because if your not Lady GaGa, Katy Perry or Rihanna then you won`t get much airplay. Good Luck Estelle!
Well, it isn’t like what was with American Boy & Kanye West, yet Estelle has redeemed herself after the failure of Freak. That wasn’t a driven song, yet this is a nice casual Hip Hop / R&B song and nice change of pace from the overexposed Lady Gaga & Rihanna.
I love her sound
I’m looking forward to Estelle’s second album. I heard her first album in a hotel room while on vacation in Orlando in July 2008–very creatively done R&B album with some hip-hop beats on several numbers. This new song is good, Estelle’s voice is smooth on here and Rick Ross keeps his rap sections to a mimimum–he knows this is Estelle’s song. It’s very balanced between both artists in this one song without one outdoing the other.
