The Kanye West Foundation, a charity founded by his late mother to help combat the high school dropout rate by providing music production programs for under-served youth, closed last month.
The New York Times obtained an email its former executive director, Joseph Collins, sent to associates in March. “I am reaching out to let you know that the Kanye West Foundation (kanyewestfoundation.org) has officially closed it doors after a successful 4+ years of programming and events,” Collins wrote. “It has been an incredible experience working with Kanye and the board to realize his mother’s vision and I am honored to have been given the opportunity to lead the Foundation.”
Collins declined to comment for the Times. A rep for West has not returned EW’s request for comment.

I guess he decided he wanted to keep all his money for himself. He is one of the biggest losers in the entertainment industry. If you can call what he does entertainment.
Their calling a foundation that lasted little over 4 years a success? I can see a fund or a donation being a success in that time, but a successful foundation is a permanent organization that is able to sustain operations over a long period of time.
He might be a loser or an idiot, but the bottomline is, he can do whatever he wants with his money, who are u guys to say otherwise? If people have problems with that, why don’t you guys start your own charity? Stop hating on the guy. Regardless of his personal problems, he know 2 things 1) Knows how to make music (newest album rocked and 2)His live performances are damn awesome. So all the haters chill out, he is still a awesome musician.
By the way he is not the first person to close the charity down. Avril Lavigne, Cher, and even T pain has closed their charities. So people relax.
I bet an audit would reveal that very little money went to those “underserved youth” and most went to “administrative costs” like luxury cars, hotel rooms, and entertainment fees.
Too bad about the foundation. Now, what can we do to shut Kanye down?

Maybe it was the economy. People not giving as much to the foundation as they once did in its peak. But Kanye West and the organizers did their best with the foundation. I’m sure they’re helped get some kids off the streets and into the classrooms in those 4 years.
