Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way': EW review

Why in the world is everyone comparing her to Madonna or calling her a Madonna copycat? Okay she’s had a song or tow like Madonna but that doesn’t make her Madonna copycat. I mean come on I’m pretty sure Madonna has copied a thing or two from some artist too. Also Lady gaga has a totally different style with most of her songs and especially her fashion sense than Madonna’s. And to people saying “it as not the album of the decade” do you believe everything you hear? No? Well everyone has an opinion and just because someone said something doesn’t mean it’s supposed to be true. And to people generalizing her fans: first of all I am a HUGE Lady GaGa fan and no I don’t like every song on the album. Fourthly,why are yall hating on he so much? It’s a waste of your time and energy. I get if you don’t like it then that’s fine but to just trash talk a album that you haven’t even heard all of, that’s weird. So everyone should chill out and remember IT’S JUST AN ALBUM FILLED WITH SONGS FORMA SINGER! NOT A FREAKING RE-WRITE OF THE 10 COMMANDMENTS!

I’ve always been into classic rock and alternative rock. However, if you look at Bowie, he was doing the same thing. He was a true artist doing pop that turned experimental. Lady GaGa has talent- she can sing, play the piano, and write really great songs. Listen to accoustic live versions of the same songs to see what I mean. She should make an unplugged album then everyone will know her true talent!

The lazy Madonna comparisons are ridiculous, I think her stage shows and concerts resemble Madonna’s but they’re not exactly copycats either. What’s wrong with admiring someone conceptualizing live performance and lifting that for your own concerts? As far as Gaga’s music goes, it’s always good, except when it’s great. The new record is mostly good (“You and I,” “Judas,” “Americano”) with a couple that achieve transcendence (“Highway Unicorn”-the glorious track most worthy of a commercial release). Others come close but somehow fall short (“Edge of Glory,”-incredible, sledgehammer chorus gives me hair-standing goosebumps; “Hair”-its pulsating meter bridge highlight nearly takes that track to transcendent) but still very good. Overall, the tracks aren’t quite so infectious as her previous work but she’s trying to say something with her music and she’s not exactly falling short. Still more moments on this record than Katy Perry, Britney, Rihanna all put together.
