Lea Michele and Jonathan Groff sing Adele's 'Rolling in the Deep' on 'Glee': Watch it here

Filed under: Music and tagged: ,

Those crazy 25-year-old kids on Glee demonstrate once more their uncanny ability to turn any song a delightful shade of vanilla, this time with a meh-tastic version of Adele’s cathartic, hell-hath-no-awesomeness-like-a-woman-scorned anthem “Rolling in the Deep.”

Check out the scene below, in which Jonathan Groff’s Jesse expresses his feelings to Lea Michele’s Rachel the only way he knows how: By awkwardly re-contextualizing someone else’s lyrics: READ FULL STORY »

Lady Gaga to release fourth single, 'Hair,' a week before Born This Way's release: Still anxious for the full album?

Usually, when an artist is gearing up for the release of their album they’ll give us two singles—one months before it drops, and one just shy of release to spur excitement. Obviously, Lady Gaga‘s far from usual. And the roll-out for her forthcoming Born This Way, due May 23, reflects as much.

After debuting the title track last February around Grammy weekend, followed by second single “Judas” weeks after, and promo single “Edge of Glory” days later, MTV reports that Gaga will let “Hair,” another uplifting cut from Born This Way, loose on May 16.

There are 14 tracks on the standard version of Way. By the time it comes out, we’ll have heard four them. Though it’s not half, that’s a chunk. It seems as if Gaga’s trying to assure us that Way is worth the hype. Sure, “Born This Way” spent more than a month at No. 1 on the Billboard hot 100 chart; but “Judas,” which peaked at No. 10 on the chart, has already receded to No. 20 in its third week.

American Idol hasn’t produced a true hitmaker in a few seasons (David Cook was arguably the last “star” the show made), but it has certainly been a great launch pad for the judges’ careers.

Kara DioGuardi found more new work as a songwriter and TV star, Jennifer Lopez resurrected her career with some hot singles (“On the Floor”; “I’m Into You”), and now Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has delivered his first solo single “(It) Feels So Good.” Hear it after the jump:

Michael Bolton talks about his 'Jack Sparrow' 'SNL' digital short, his new CD, and sticking his face in a mountain of (fake) cocaine

bolton-snl

Is Michael Bolton now the coolest rock star on the planet thanks to the crooner’s game turn in this weekend’s Saturday Night Live digital short, “Jack Sparrow”?

Maybe not, but Bolton’s performance as a movie-obsessed version of himself who hilariously ruins the Lonely Island crew’s hip-hop track by singing about Pirates of the Caribbean, Forrest Gump, Erin Brockovich, and Scarface has definitely cranked up his cool quotient.

The short has also turned him into an unlikely Internet phenomenon. After the jump, Bolton talks about his collaboration with Lonely Island-ers Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer, his new CD of duets, and why he won’t be dressing in drag again any time soon.

Lady Gaga releases new single 'The Edge of Glory': Listen here

Lady Gaga just released her third single off Born This Way, “The Edge of Glory,” co-written by Gaga, Fernando Garibay, and DJ White Shadow.

Clarence Clemons of the E Street Band lends his virtuosic saxophone skills to the power ballad, which Gaga claims she was inspired to write after the death of her grandfather in September.

“The song is about your last moment on earth, the moment of truth, the moment before you leave earth,” she said in a fan-generated interview with Google earlier this year. Does it capture last-minute-on-earth rapture? Listen to it yourself after the break: READ FULL STORY »

Rihanna dreams of love in new 'California King Bed' video: Watch it here

Filed under: Music and tagged: , , ,

In the video for her new single “California King Bed,” Rihanna‘s man is close, but so far.

As her head sits on his chest and her hand rests on his abs, she wonders if she’s the only one thinking what they have is love. Coming off her run as a dominatrix in her “S&M” clip, this is a smart pick to follow.

Instead of being in complete control, here she is—vulnerable, open, and unsure. The video captures the feel of “King Bed,” not that it’s a difficult one to grasp. Check it out after the jump:

After cleaning up and returning to the spotlight in 2009 with a new album, I Look to You, it appears that Whitney Houston is still fighting her demons. People reports that the embattled singer is participating in an out-patient treatment program for substance abuse.

“Whitney Houston is currently in an out-patient rehab program for drug and alcohol treatment,” her rep says. “Whitney voluntarily entered the program to support her long-standing recovery process.”

Houston, 47, talked about her addiction to cocaine two years ago on Oprah. “Follow me here, Oprah,” she started, explaining she was “lacing marijuana… with rock cocaine.”

Houston’s current program allows her to be out and about. Last week she was spotted on stage with Chaka Khan at Prince’s Welcome 2 America tour, singing “Tell Me Something Good”—and sounding good.
