Nearly a year after Kanye West debuted the lyrics to his spiteful single-parent jam “Mama’s Boyfriend” at Facebook’s headquarters last July, the track–which didn’t make the cut for 2010′s acclaimed My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy–leaked online last night.
“It took me 32 years of my life to write it,” Kanye said of the soulful College Dropout-esque track last year. “It means a lot to me.” It’s obviously one that hits close to home for West, who was mostly raised by his mother after his parents divorced.
Written from the perspective of a child, he attacks any guy trying to be his mom’s new man on “Boyfriend.” Even back then, Kanye knew what strategies grown men would use to get her.
“Trying to get to know me, homie?/ Just kill the charm/ You ain’t trying to get to know me/ You’re just trying to f— my mom,” West spits. It’s tough to criticize a track that likely wasn’t intended to be heard. But I wish his lines were delivered with more spirit, like his a cappella version on Facebook.
It’s easy to see why it didn’t make the album for other reasons, though: While Twisted Fantasy leaned heavily on samples, “Boyfriend” doesn’t fit in the mix of other records on it like, say, “Power” or “Lost in the World.”
Honestly, I was hoping West would save it for Watch the Throne, his forthcoming collaborative effort with “big brother” Jay-Z–considering that they both grew up without a man in the house.
Kanye’s reps have not responded to inquiries regarding whether he still has plans for the song or if it will forever be left on the cutting-room floor. Have you heard “Mama’s Boyfriend” yet? What do you think of it? Can you relate? Let us know.

Kanye hasn’t been “right” since his mother passed.
I’m unsure how this is Kanye being a bozo or how he hasn’t been right. He’s expressing himself and his experience growing up with out a father. Stop Hating! Learn to Love!

The use of the N-word prevent me from labeling the song cute, but its still a great song that anyone who grew up in a single mom household can relate to.
I’m one his mamma’s boyfriends, who knew from the outset that Kenya was not accepting our relationship. I tried to treat him as my own son, but that did’nt work because he did’nt want it too. I have still alwasy wanted the very best for him because his mother gave all she could to promote him and his music career. God speed to Kenya West.
