UPDATE, 7 p.m. ET, June 17: It’s Friday and Rebecca Black’s video remains off of YouTube, after a purported “Director’s Cut” was yanked off-line as well.
“This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Rebecca Black. Sorry about that.” Those horrifying words are now what greets anyone seeking out the official music video of Rebecca Black’s generational pop anthem, “Friday,” on YouTube. For a brief moment earlier this week, the clip was available only as a $2.99 YouTube rental, and now, after over 167 million views, it’s gone. Why? It’s unclear, although it could have something to do with finding a way to turn the song’s outrageous popularity into outrageous sums of money. Or it could just be a glitch in the Matrix, and the song will be back on YouTube in the morning to haunt our dreams. Tomorrow is Friday, after all.

God the memories just flood back every time I hear this Dylan classic; It was the winter of 1968 and me and my baby Katie had just married. We were two months behind on our rent and we were in the process of being evicted when this song came on. This song really pulled us through those tough times.
