Amy Winehouse cancels all remaining tour dates

In a move that shouldn’t shock anybody, Amy Winehouse has called off all of the remaining dates on her European tour (that’s 11 shows in all).

The announcement came only a day after the singer canceled dates in Athens and Istanbul following a disastrous performance in Belgrade, Serbia over the weekend.

“Everyone involved wishes to do everything they can to help her return to her best and she will be given as long as it takes for this to happen,” Winehouse representative Chris Goodman told the Associated Press. There was no mention of why Winehouse was in the state she was in during the show, nor what she would be doing now.

In her now-scandalous performance in Belgrade (much of which was caught on video), Winehouse hit the stage an hour late and proceeded to stumble about the stage and only intermittently sing her songs. The crowd roundly booed Winehouse, and a local newspaper referred to the concert as “the worst in the history of Belgrade.”

Only a few weeks before hitting the road, Winehouse spent two weeks at London’s Priory Clinic, though it was never made clear what she was being treated for.

Canceling the tour is the right thing to do, as it makes it clear that both Winehouse and the people around her are committed to her health first and her career second.

Once she cleans up and gets healthy, she can get back to the business of her comeback, which will hopefully include the long-awaited follow-up to 2006’s Grammy-winning Back to Black.

I wish her all the best. She’s an amazing talent who clearly has a lot of demons. Hope she gets it together!

Crackhouse just needs to go away, say what you want about Gaga (and I have) but at least she’s not the biggest druggie piece of garbage on earth, Amy = Lindsay Lohan, only with bigger hair and smaller cans.

Agreed, it might be time for Winehouse to disappear from the face of the earth, can’t imagine she’d be missed too much since she never does anything musically anyway. How long’s it been since her last again?

      • Luvver

Amy had such raw, strong talent in her early days. I still love the “Frank” CD even though I know that person is dead and probably won’t be revived. She’s been in and out of rehab so many times but I think crack etc. will eventually get the best of her.

If she dies, I think whatever estate she has should be divided among those who paid to see her in concert, such a waste of hard earned money.

She’s only going to be able to ride the sympathy train for so long until the conductor realizes she doesn’t have a ticket. I’m all for a comeback, but there are lots of other talents out there who deserve our attention as well, and aren’t trapped in Selfdestructland.

      Guess NoT

AW is LAME–and VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Even at her best she is a cheesy whitebread copy of a music that she obviously fails to understand.

  • Tom

All good, except that she can’t sing if she’s not high.

time for amy to move on. don’t get me wrong, that rehab song was pretty good, but, for a one-hit-wonder, she’s has had a lot of chances. people who pay to go to her shows are taking a risk of seeing potential suckage.

She should just go ahead and cancell the rest of her career.

I don’t get it. So talented, such a waste. Obviously, rehab was for nothing.

  • Jerry

She’s a pathetic, slbobbering, hopeless drug addict who has never really tried to get clean and sober. Her modest singing talents don’t justify her ridiculous behavior in public. Love the last line of this article: “Once she cleans up and gets healthy, she can get back to the business of her comeback…” Yeah, right, EW.
More likely, once she cleans up and gets healthy, she’ll fall off the wagon–or fall off a stage–before long.

It’s easy to criticize addicts without having been in those shoes, isn’t it? How does it feel up on your horse?

      • Kevin

There are so many warnings about drugs and what they can do, yet people still do it. Many programs to help you get clean IF you are stupid enough to get involved. So yes, it is easy to criticize addicts.. they have no one to blame but themselves.

    Her Videos Removed:

What gets me is that corporations can have content removed left and right on what is supposed to be a free internet, and nobody says or does a damn thing about it. George CarlIn was right… They own you.

  • Elbyem

The people who arranged a series of concerts for someone who is so obviously dehabilitated by addiction, are the ones who owe the paying customers their money back. This was a fraud on the public, but I don’t blame Amy – I blame the people still trying to make $ off of her.

  • Amy Winehouse

They tried to make me go to rehab, but I said, “No, No, No!”

    • tina

      a gimmick gone too far

  • Stacie

Amy kinda reminds of Janis Joplin. She is quite talented, but if she doesn’t change her lifestyle, she, too, will be gone before her time.

    • La Donna

I heard that. Amy has too much tal
-ent to let this happen to her. All
she has to do is to get help in
order to fight these inner demons.

  • WelderBob

Just give her all the drug of choice she wants,it won’t be long before she over doses.
Only then will she be happy–6 feet under, buried in a garbage can that not only fits her body but life as a whole.
What a waste of a human life.

  • Killer

I think she’s great. A regular female Keith Richards. I’d go watch her stumble around given the chance. Lighten up kids its Amy Winehouse not the friggin pope.

  • Gary

Maybe someone slipped her a micky and it was not her fault?

  • Bobbie

    Her career is done…so sad.
