Cee Lo Green is doing himself (and supposedly his fans) a favor and stepping down from his duties as opening act on Rihanna’s LOUD tour.
Green, who was taking bouncing between his duties as a coach on the smash NBC music competition The Voice in L.A. and as Rihanna’s opener in cities all over, apparently will just be too busy to give the top-notch performance many would expect of him.
But since The Voice is wrapping up their first season next week, the question is what will be tying up the Gnarls Barkley singer’s time? Well, his people told the Los Angeles Times that he’ll be recording a new album and working on a book.
So simply put: Cee Lo didn’t want to spread himself too thin. He’s got better things to do other business to attend to. Sad Green won’t be holding Rihanna down on the remaining dates of her tour? Let us know.

I think the author is a big fan of cee lo’s music.
Better things to do? Rihanna has been getting huge acclaim for her performance on tour – however, 9/10 reviews have critized Cee-Lo as the opening act. One even leading to him making the homophobic remarks he has most recently been critized of. Professional journalism, please.
I do believe that the bad reviews are why he’s leaving her tour as well. But Rihanna getting critical acclaim for her live performances? While she has improved quite a bit, her performances for the most part are still very lackluster, and so not worthy of great acclaim. I can’t imagine that Cee-Lo could be worse than her. Having seen him on the Grammys and the Billboard awards, I’d have thought him to be a great performer. I’m gonna have to check him out on YouTube to see if the critics have a point.
I know it might not seem like it, but its true, Rihannas getting actual acclaim for her performing in the tour..
I saw the tour in Minneapolis and I was shocked at how much better Rihanna was than I had expected. Cee-Lo, who I always enjoyed on records, was a complete let down. Everything sound muddled.

Exactly. How the hell can Cee-Lo have haters? This man is the DEFINITION of an artist with imagination. He’s an MC, talented ass singer, and a PHENOMENAL writer. Us Goodie Mob fans know what’s up CeeLo. Yeah, go on and google up Goodie Mob, children.
P.S. how the hell are these shows being arranged? Bruno Mars with my girl Janelle Monae? Rihanna with Cee-Lo? F*ck outta my face with that. Why wouldn’t they have just had Janelle + Cee-lo in one show, and Bruno + Rihanna in another, with another opener for each? Their styles are more similar than how it’s arranged now. Even though i enjoyed Bruno, i had to enjoy Janelle by myself as boring ass teenyboppers sat/stood still waiting for Bruno. Gimme a break.
He has two shows you know. The voice and talking with strangers on fuse.
The voice is over next week and I think the Fuse shows are already recorded.
He should headline concerts across the country, easily. Extremely talented, and incredible songs.

His performance on the view last week was pretty abysmal so maybe he’s not rehearsed enough. Or it’s possible that because Rihanna’s tour is not selling well she really had to let him go because she couldn’t pay him. It’s sounds better in press if they say he quit rather then they can’t sell tickets.
Rihanna’s sales have been so good, she’s had 9 SOLD OUT shows in just ONE venue. It’s also one of the highest grossing tours of the year so far, so I highly doubt she had to let him go.
Look up RHiaana ticket sells on google and you will get plenty of stories of poor ticket sales for this tours. Maybe things improved.
Just looked at ticketmaster to buy tickets for next week’s LA show. Buying 2 tickets you can still get Upper Levels. So no sellout in the important LA market.
i don’t know about this particular tour, but wanted to point out that many times shows are sold out because scalpers buy huge quantities to gouge people with later on. it’s how a “sold out” show can end up with empty seats.

I want Ciara to have her own tour. Sure she’s in a bit of a slump right now but she is a star, an AMAZING dancer, she has hits and many fans, and hopefully her career will be on the rise again.
Nobody wants to hear “Goodies” on loop for 2 hours.

To answer Chichi, Ciara has recorded 4 albums, including this new one that came out in December. So she has a lot of material to go through to select the dozen of songs for her live show. I think she’ll do far more than Goodies, mostly songs from the new album and her past hits and songs. I think she has gotten better and she doesn’t care about sales, she wants to perform to the crowds.
Umm…is it me or does Cee Lo only have ONE hit song. Maybe that is why he is leaving. How is he writing a book?
“Crazy” and “F*** You” are his two major hits.

Jade, you should check out his work with Gnarls Barkley before you make such a statement. His songs with Danger Mouse are a lot better than his solo stuff, in my opinion
