This fall, Coldplay will be releasing one of the most high-profile and hotly-anticipated albums of the year. But they’ve already got a head start making noise.
The band just released the EP Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall, a three-song collection that features the title track (which also serves as the first single from the forthcoming album) as well as two other new songs, “Major Minus” and “Moving to Mars.”
Now comes their latest video, for “Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall,” and like most of the group’s clips, it’s colorful, jubilant and more than a little trippy. Check it out after the jump.
Coldplay have now been around for 11 years (yes, “Yellow” is over a decade old), and over the course of four albums (this fall’s will be their fifth), they have managed to not only carve out a pretty impressive body of musical work but also a fairly staggering videography.
There’s the great cut-out animation of “Don’t Panic,” the impressive backwards headtrip that is “The Scientist,” the warm nostalgia of “Christmas Lights” and the subtle intensity of “Talk.” And they’ve worked with some of the most elite directors in the business, including Anton Corbijn, Sophie Muller, Grant Gee, and even Hype Williams (frontman Chris Martin and wife Gwyneth Paltrow are close with the Carters, after all).
The band is keeping busy in the lead-up to the release of their still-untitled fifth album—they just played a well-received set at the Glastonbury Festival and will be one of the headliners at Lollapalooza in August.
What do you think of the video, and where does it rank among the long list of great Coldplay clips? Sound off in the comments below.

love the new video, do you know who directed/made it?
Don’t forget the “Strawberry Swing” video– also pretty awesome.
good……..but sorta same old thing with them…..
I see they’ve changed their Sgt Pepper meets bohemian hipsters wardrobe for hypercolor. Awesome.
their next single “Every Smile is a Rainbow” is due to drop in August and was co-written by Hallmark’s best scribe(pseudonym Cliche Platitude)as was “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall”
ps Unforgettable Fire was friggin 26 years ago…rip off a new sound.
gosh, you’re cool!
Coldplay always puts out good videos from Trouble, Clocks, Violet Hill, Life In Technicolor 2 & my favorite of theirs “Speed of Sound”. But one of my other favorites by them is the other version of Viva La Vida directed by Anton Corbijn. As its a tribute to Depeche Mode as Chris Martin is walking around in different places in a Kings outfit, just like in the Depeche Mode video for Enjoy The Silence.

Love this video. They always put out great videos.
Nice video, but this song is a turd. Sorry, but I can’t believe the same band that wrote wonders like “Talk” “God Put A Smile Upon Your Face”, “Cemeteries Of London” or “Fix You” released this garbage. Biggest let down of the year for me.
Raul Ramos disse:Sim, Carolina! Ouça!Mas como disse, é um tarlabho de desintoxicação ainda rsrsrs.
