Weird Al's Lady Gaga parody 'Perform This Way': Watch the (disturbing) video here

Who’s that pretty lady in the photo at right?

That would be Weird Al (with an assist from an anonymous young woman’s ab-tastic body and much, much post-production magic), doing his best of Gaga’s greatest sartorial hits—the “Born This Way” egg, the bubble gown, and of course, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame meat dress.

Though some may remember that his parody was initially axed at the source by Gaga management, Al’s take on Mother Monster’s “Born This Way” can now run free: “My mama told me when I was hatched/act like a superstar/Save your allowance/buy a bubble dress/and someday you will go far.” Ouch. Other highlights include a Madonna jab and the scariest interpretation of a troll doll the internet has ever seen.

Does anyone else think that Al looks a bit like Jane Krakowski in his glittery blue fairy attire? Sorry, Ms. Maroney. See for yourself after the jump. All of the proceeds from the song and the video will go to the Human Rights Campaign, so you’re doing it for charity: READ FULL STORY »

Katy Perry and Robyn take a sweet-toothed teenage dream tour to New Jersey

Katy Perry brought her sugarcoated psychedelic dreamland to New Jersey last night, using her California Dreams tour to tell the story of a young lady who follows her feline companion Kitty Purry into a circuitous Candy Land-esque setting filled with hallucination-inducing brownies, a slutty slot machine (ha?) and a cavalcade of Top 10 hits.

Say what you will about Katy Perry—sure, she has a weak singing voice and her songs are mostly devoid of substance—but as a courier of frothy delights and eye-catching effulgence, she’s become one of today’s most-satisfying pop stars.

Her stage show—which boasted airborne mimes, floating cotton candy clouds and a gingerbread man kick-line—was a visual feast that brought to mind a tweenage version of Cirque du Soleil. And make no mistake: this stage show was a dream constructed for, and occupied almost exclusively by, teens. I doubt more than ten percent of the crowd was over twenty, and most of those adults were chaperoning fist-pumping teens in blue wigs and candy-button dresses. READ FULL STORY »

Amy Winehouse falls apart on stage in Belgrade: Watch the video here

How was your weekend? No matter what you did, it probably went better than Amy Winehouse’s.

The troubled singer, who just wrapped up a stint in rehab, cancelled two upcoming dates on a brief tour after a disastrous performance in Belgrade.

After taking the stage an hour late at a festival in the Serbian capital, Winehouse stumbled around, fought with her microphone, only occasionally sang her own songs and talked a lot about how much she likes some of her band members more than others.

While the crowd at the show seemed to go along with her for a while, they eventually turned on her, sending boos and heckles in her direction. Naturally, much of it was caught on video:

Rebecca Black's 'Friday' controversy: Video production company says it was 'blindsided' by YouTube removal

Rebecca-Black

Rebecca Black’s infamous music video for “Friday” remains pulled from YouTube due to a copyright claim by Black, as the saga surrounding the viral video continues to play out. ARK Music Factory, the company that helped Black create it, has fired back in a statement, claiming that they’re working to resolve a complaint from Black’s representatives.

The statement from ARK’s spokesperson is as follows: “We’re disappointed, having been in good faith negotiations with Rebecca Black and her representatives for months regarding any open issues. There’s been an ongoing, open dialogue with our company. So we were blindsided to get a Take Down Notice — with no notice — alleging copyright infringement instead of a call or email from Rebecca’s representatives.” READ FULL STORY »

50 Cent releases 'Outlaw' single from upcoming album: When will the rapper who got rich stop rhyming like he's still living in 2003?

Remember back in 2007 when Kanye West and 50 Cent both released their third albums, Graduation and Curtis, on September 11?

Fifty swore that if Kanye’s first week sales outdid his, he’d quit rapping. Yeah, I know it was a publicity stunt. I saw them joking with each other during their photo shoot with Rolling Stone. But when Kanye beat him seven days later, I actually did wish he’d fall back—way back into Not Making an Album for an Extremely Long Time land. READ FULL STORY »

Glee standout Naya Rivera, who plays the feisty and sexually confused Santana on Fox’s musical hit, signed a record deal in early June, and it seems that the busy-busy star is wasting no time before taking a crack at working on it.

As soon as she gets done with the Glee tour, her focus will be solely on her solo album for the month of July. “I won’t have anything I’m working on until after the tour is over,” Rivera told EW when we caught up with her, “so July 4th, when I get back home in L.A., is when I’ll hunker down and spend that whole month hammering out the details and the creative process of that. I’m really excited about that.”

As for what we can expect for the actual sound of the album, well, it seems that Rivera is still working that out. “I know what I sound good on, and I know what I like to write,” she says. “I’ve been writing for years, so I have a catalog of songs that I’ve written over the years, and it’s just a matter of getting with the right producers and other writers to develop the sound that is me.”

Could that sound possibly include someone from the New Directions, Vocal Adrenaline, or the Warblers? Rivera says she’d love to enlist some of her Glee cast mates to be on her album, but “I guess we’ll just have to find out and see.” (Reporting by Lanford Beard)

Age Before Beauty: 'Forbes' releases 2011 top earners list

As expected, Gaga was golden when Forbes released its 2011 World’s Highest-Paid Musicians List this past Wednesday. Yet, despite banking $90 million, Gaga found on herself on “The Edge of Glory” as she landed in fourth place. She probably could have secured a higher position if she had been more conservative in spending for her stage show. Then again, girl loves a concept costume and a flaming piano… Plus, the words “Gaga” and “conservative” really should never inhabit the same sentence, right?

So who scored the top slot? READ FULL STORY »
