Lady Gaga debuts 'Edge of Glory' video: Watch her one-woman '80s time-warp fantasia here-VIDEO

Better consult your 96-color Crayola carton for reference. There’s more than one unnatural shade in Lady Gaga’s latest, and perhaps ultimate, ‘80s tribute, the new video for “The Edge of Glory,” which just premiered tonight on Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance—along with news that she’ll be guest-judging the competition later this season.

It’s a steamy one-woman, one-sax player urban fantasia (that’s right, Clarence Clemons shows up!) and a showcase for Gaga’s retro streetwalker couture. Check it out after the break:

Metallica and Lou Reed reveal secret collaboration on full-length album

Metallica-2011

You read that right: Modern metal’s founding fathers Metallica (left) have recorded an album with alt-rock godfather Lou Reed (not pictured due to shyness).

Although it seems like a curious combination at first—Stephanie Says Kill ‘Em All? Master of Taking a Walk on the Wild Side? Romeo Had Juliette After Entering Sandman?—Reed was the first major rocker to release an album of uncompromising (and almost unlistenable) noise rock with 1975′s Metal Machine Music. So maybe this combination was inevitable. Plus, the Velvet Underground had an album called Loaded: Was it a spiritual precursor to Metallica’s ’90s albums Load and ReLoad? (Answer: no.)

According to a statement on Metallica’s website, Lou and the boys have been “kicking around the idea of making a record together” since they shared the stage for the 25th Anniversary of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame a couple years ago. Here’s the full statement: READ FULL STORY »

Christina Aguilera's almost-nude magazine cover: Should a human body look like that?

There’s nothing particularly shocking about a magazine cover girl who isn’t exactly a covered girl.

But the photo of Christina Aguilera on the new issue of W Magazine has to be one of the oddest images in her visually eclectic career.

Could this be another example of Photoshop run wild? Truthfully, I kind of hope so: no healthy human body is meant to look like that. Actually, I’m not sure any human body does actually look like this: her elongated, stick-thin body looks more like Modigliani than flesh and blood.

Or perhaps the same people who once famously stretched out Paula Abdul in her “The Promise of a New Day” video have struck again after laying dormant so many years. (For an explanation of that, refer to In Living Color‘s wonderfully illustrative parody.)

Then again, maybe this rubbery, emaciated form is truly what Christina looks like these days (she must really count her carbs—and taking her human growth hormones). Clearly, the crazy amount of money she’s making from The Voice—she reportedly earns as much as the other three judges combined—is not going toward groceries. READ FULL STORY »

Tupac shooter cops to an old crime, but what does it mean for Tupac and Biggie's murder cases?

Had he not been cut down in his prime by a (presumably) still-at-large assassin in 1996, rapper/actor/activist/poet/cultural lightning rod Tupac Shakur would have turned 40 years old today.

But on a day when we would normally be discussing his legacy—or what his creative place in today’s hip-hop world might have been had he lived—the attention has now turned instead to a man named Dexter Isaac, who gave an interview to AllHipHop wherein he admitted to being the man who shot Shakur in a famous unsolved incident outside a New York recording studio back in November of 1994.

Isaac claims he was paid $2,500 by James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond to take out Shakur. The New York Police Department is currently investigating the issue, and if they find the claims to be credible, they plan to speak with Isaac, who according to AllHipHop is currently serving a life sentence in prison. Will the information that Isaac has—or claims to have—have any bearing ultimately on the notoriously still-unsolved cases of both Tupac’s and Biggie’s murders? READ FULL STORY »

Darren Criss live: A very Potter experience, featuring Warblers and Naya Rivera

Tonight, Darren Criss will join his Glee cast members for a performance at the 20,000-seat Izod Center in East Rutherford, NJ for the latest stop on the group’s gigantic summer tour.

But last night, the singer took to a much smaller stage at Irving Plaza in New York City for a solo performance that was as charmingly aimless as it was enjoyable and star-filled. Among the cameos? Criss’ Warbler brothers, Naya Rivera, and Lauren Lopez from Team Starkid’s A Very Potter Musical.

Early on during the show, Criss told the audience to expect three things: a flexible set list (which he said he would make up as the show progressed), a few incidents  of forgotten lyrics, and big guests. READ FULL STORY »

Imprisoned felon admits to Tupac Shakur shooting

Categories: Hip-Hop/Rap

A man in prison serving a life sentence for murder and other crimes has admitted that he was involved in the November 1994 shooting and robbery of the late rapper Tupac Shakur. The New York Police Department confirms to EW that they’ll look into the revelations and allegations made by Dexter Isaac, who sent a letter to AllHipHop.com apologizing to Shakur’s family and pointing a finger James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond, a current fugitive who Isaac writes paid him $2,500 for the attack. (Shakur survived the assault, but he was killed two years later in another shooting that has never been solved.)

Isaac indicated that he was speaking out now to protest Henchman’s allegations that he was working with federal investigators against his former associate — “I have never been a rat for anybody,” he wrote — and “to give [Tupac and Biggie's] mothers some closure.”

Henchman’s lawyer, Jeffrey Lichtman, told the New York Daily News that Isaac’s accusation is “a flat out lie.” “Dexter Isaac is not claiming this 17 years later to clear his conscience,” Lichtman said. “He’s doing it because he’s told anybody who will listen he doesn’t want to die in prison. He has kids and wants to work off his sentence. He can’t be trusted.”

Mumford & Sons covers The National's 'England' on 'VH1 Unplugged' -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

Mumford & Sons doing The National? Yes, please.

The buzzy English folk rockers are the latest to take the plunge on VH1′s recently rebooted Unplugged series, and EW has the exclusive video of their cover of stately Brooklyn-based indie outfit The National‘s song “England.”

It turns out that the Mumford boys have admired The National for a long time. “We’re big fans,” says Mumford & Sons vocalist Marcus Mumford just before performing “England” in the video, embedded below.

“Last summer,” he continues, “we got to see them, like, five or six times, and really loved High Violet as an album and that song ['England] obviously sticks out for us cause we’re English. Still trying to figure out if it’s offensive towards English people, but yeah, we’re making it non-offensive. We’re making it sort of like a real Britannia song today.”

“When we were asked to play a cover, it just sort of jumped out. As opposed,” he jokes, “to playing Ween’s version of ‘Waving my D— in the Wind,’ which we thought we’d save for another time.” Watch it here:
