Kanye West and Jay-Z reveal album details, kingly cover art for collab 'Watch the Throne'

Kanye West hasn’t said anything on his Twitter page in a while—14 weeks, to be exact.

But he broke his silence yesterday to post a picture–one fans have been waiting for since last fall: the album cover for Watch the Throne, his much-anticipated collaboration with rhyme king Jay-Z. The gold embroidered image looks like a dinner plate for royalty and was designed by Riccardo Tisci, the creative director of Givenchy.

West also provided a link to pre-order the album (Throne will be available in both a ten-track version and one with four bonus cuts). Though their reps have not confirmed an official release date, it appears that preordered albums will ship Tuesday Aug. 2, meaning we’re less than a month away from hearing what possibly could be the best tag-team collab effort in rap history.

The two have been relatively quiet about the project since they dropped the single “H.A.M.,” back in January. Excited knowing it’s on the way? What do you expect from it? Let us know.

Looks like one of those ceiling tiles from The Coffee Bean. Thumbs up!

  • UGH

How apt that I was reading this on my ipad while I was on the throne.

      More like ironic?

Thought it was some new info on HBO’s Game of Thrones… oh well.

    Nice!

Looks great! Kanye and Jay-Z are the best rappers out there right now.

I love both of them (Kanye is a genius)…but I just don’t have high hopes for this (especially based off the underwhelming H.A.M.). I hope it brings something exciting to the table instead of just the two of them rapping over basic beats for 10 tracks.

Cannot wait, I kid you not that I have been listening to ‘H.A.M.’ in regular rotation since January. If the album is as brilliantly over the top as that song, it’s going to be awesome.

I think it would be more significant, you know, if they hadn’t already collab’d at least a dozen times lol. But I’ll still grab it, first day.

  • Wow

let’s hope the rest of the album is better than H.A.M.–if not, the cover will be the nicest thing about the cd.

thanks EW for informing me that Jay-Z is the rhyme KING. and H.A.M. is a teaser for possibly the “best rap tag team” in history. I’m interested in rhyme and couldn’t pass up an opportunity to see the KING in action so I looked up the “lyric”. and yikes…such an assault of verbal porn I haven’t seen the likes of since…Jay-Z’s last “song”. unless you’re impressed with two imbeciles who graduated with honors from the Larry Flynt school of songwriting, Kanye and Jay-Z are little more than peddlers of trash. but hey, I think those two wanks must get a dime every time they use the word “n***a” because that appears dozens of times. they’re very talented. and one of them is the KING. Kanye must be the jester although the joke’s on their audience.
