As news of Amy Winehouse’s death at age 27 spreads, friends, fellow artists, and fans have begun to share their grief on Twitter:
Kelly Clarkson:
“I heard the news about Amy Winehouse. I’m incredibly sad. I didn’t know her but I met her a few times and got to hear her sing before she blew up. She was a beautiful and talented girl. I’m angry. What a waste of a gifted person. What a shame she saw no hope and continued living her life in that [manner]. I have been that low emotionally and mentally and that is overwhelming. I keep asking myself why some of us are spared and the others are made examples. I’m very angry and sad. I don’t know why it’s bothering me so much. Sometimes I think this job will be the death of us all, or at least the emotional death of us all. Maybe that is why as a little kid in Sunday school I learned that God didn’t want false gods or idols. I thought it was terribly selfish of God as a child but I think I get it now. He didn’t want us following people or things that are imperfect and not so much for the followers but for the gods and/or idols who will never be what everyone wishes or needs them to be because we are made imperfect. He knew we wouldn’t be able to handle the pressure, the shame, the glory, or the power the spotlight brings. I am distraught. I am also extremely grateful and thankful for the people who love me and support me. Without such amazing friends and family who knows where I’d be. My thoughts and prayers are with her friends and family. I am so sorry for your loss. I pray for peace in your hearts.”

I hope that now you’ll find the peace that eluded you while you roamed planet earth. RIP.
It’s supposed to be Janelle Monae, not just Monae.
Milk flew out my nose at light speed when I heard this sad sad news.
1) Who is Cat Deeley, and 2) Who did Kelly Clarkson f*ck to get Ultra Twitter?
Cat Deeley is the British host of So You Think You Can Dance. She’s rather well known in England. And Kelly Clarkson was probably using Tweet Longer or something.
no, she was probably using tweeter longer than that cat that could play the banjo
RIP AMY to the family sorry for ur lost we will love and miss her! To the family I’m keeping u in my prayers! Their will never be another AMY!!!!!
Sure there will, junkie pop stars are a dime a dozen, always have been.
Point is she wasn’t a pop star. Today’s pop stars’ voices are autotuned, so good luck finding someone who can show this generation quality in music and true meaning behind lyrics. Her perfect description would be “tortured artist.”
Oh yeah, how much do you want to bet she died of some sort of overdose. That what you get when you live the life of a drug addict. I don’t feel bad AT ALL.
I hope no one you’re close to ever suffers from an addiction, @batmanvsnavi. It’s an illness just like any other, there is a mortality rate, and the death of someone so young is tragic no matter how it’s brought on. Shame on you.
@Anna, while drug addiction is an illness, it is MOST DEFINITELY NOT like any other illness. A person walking down the street could contract the common cold, emphysema, cancer, multiple sclerosis, lupus, and many others through NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN. Addictions are illnesses of choice. The power to cure them is 100% attainable if a person is strong enough to try. No matter how strong my partner is, he will NEVER be free of debilitating Multiple Sclerosis that is robbing our precious life together in many many ways. He did NOT choose to get MS.
I can’t believe you guys think she died because she OD’ed on something. That’s just wrong. Someone of her professionalism letting drugs get the best of her like that, is completely unfounded and.. Oh wait I thought you were talking about Aimee Mann. My bad!
Sad. She once said she had been diagnosed as bi-polar: she chose to self-medicate with disastrous results. I recall her father crying out for help for her repeatedly; but sometimes, as hard as you try to help someone you love, there isn’t much you can do in the end. I feel for her loved ones, bearing the torment for being unable to save her or convince her to save herself. If there is an afterlife, then maybe she’ll find the peace there that obviously eluded her in this life. A crying shame…
Very well said. We all certainly saw this coming but it doesn’t make it any less sad and tragic.
As much as I like Pixar movies, what is relavant about the reaction of the director of ‘Toy Story 3′?
One useless, spoiled b!tch down, thousands to go.
You are a heartless person to say something of that nature at such a delicate time. Amy, was a great being in spite of her struggle with substance abuse. RIP Amy!!
u speak the truth my man….bravo….she thought she was better than everyone else and smarter too…now look at her…not so smart now…
Yeah, i was wondering that too.
the relevance is that he is someone who is mourning her over twitter. They put (toy story 3 director) in the parentheses to give a more widely known explanation of who he is, as they did for every other person mentioned in the article.
Yeah but none of the celebrites are brave enough to say “She shoulda gone to Rehab but she said NO NO NO”. I never heard the song until today; I had to check it out when everyone kept posting that phrase. It is very sad that she couldn’t conquer her demons.
Its also sad that now her most-famous compostion’s hook phrase has become a punchline that sums up her life.
she went to rehab many times.
Maybe that Toy Story 3 director has heard Amy Winehouse’s music and became a huge fan afterwards. Amy’s fans weren’t just limited to musicians and artists. I commend that person for expressing his condolences to Amy in his Twitter message.
One of my favs, Im so sorry to see she has passed, she had an awesome style and voice it shouldn’t have ended this way, she was way to young.
And all those who continued to make money off Amy without ensuring she stopped the drugs have some culpability in her death. She might rest in peace, but hopefully you won’t.
No one can make anyone else stop taking drugs. It’s up to the individual themselves to take that trip alone. People contribute to enabling addicts but they are not responsible for another person’s actions or lack of actions.
RIP amy a sad day for all
kinda saw that one coming…
Agreed, but it still sucks. It would be nice to see someone overcome their demons. It never seemed in the cards for Amy Winehouse. My condolences to her friends and family.
yeah, sadly I was not surprised to hear this…
Inside job-link 2007/23 July-her ex hubby gives a hard time to poor Amy at a concert.producers should keep their mouths well-shut since they didn’t give a crap to Amys’ condition. All people that gain anything with her death are going to suffer and RIP is running up your shoulders seeking reasons/motives/Belgrade/government/ex hubby/her own family/23JULY2007-
Everytime a star or a celebrity acts reckless, I check the age age and once he or she is 28, I’m relieved. Right now, I have Lindsay Lohan on my 27-dar.
The ones that are in the 27 club are talented musicians. Lindsay has got it made, she is not a musician and she is not talented.
R.I.P Amy … you were the brightest star on the horizon. We gon miss you baby.
Dang.
I wasn’t a big fan, but I really liked the songs “Rehab” and “You Know I’m No Good”… RIP Amy.
I am truly heartbroken and deeply sad. Yes, she was a mess in so many ways, but she had an amazing talent. I continued to pull for her and hoped to hear her next brilliant album one day soon. A very sad day.
Wow what a shock. A drug addicted Talentless idiot is dead. Who cares?
How cruel can a person be? Regardless of the demons she faced and the lifestyle she led, which you are totally free to disagree with — she had a family, she had friends, she had a life that was cut far too short. While you don’t have to put her up on a pedastal and worship her, she was someone’s child — show some compassion, if not some tact.
And what would you consider talent? You’ve obviously never heard her music. Go away soulless troll.
If you don’t have anything nice to say about Amy, you should not have posted anything.
Booger booger and farty butt
