Robyn covers Coldplay's 'Every Teardrop is a Waterfall': Listen to it here

I thought Robyn’s cover of “Since U been Gone” was my favorite song cover the Swedish songstress had ever done, but then I heard her take on Coldplay’s “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall.”

Love is a strong word, but I don’t hesitate using it in this case. She gives the band’s latest hit what can only be described as “the Robyn treatment,” and it has left me in a state of synth-pop euphoria.

Could this cover (which she did for BBC Radio 1′s Live Lounge) be a hit for Robyn? I think so. Listen and weight in!

Meh. Love Robyn…but the original is way better. This doesn’t have much energy. And my god, the high notes towards the end are insanely off-key.

Maybe she should have autotuned it like the rest of the so called artists do today!? Personally I think it’s refreshing to hear an artist that actually sing live…

Wait til you hear the Swedish House Mafia remix of the Coldplay version….

I don’t understand why radio doesn’t jump on the Robyn bandwagon. She is a phenomenal talent and puts on one heckuva concert to boot. She deserves major stardom.

Best Robin cover for me was Alicia Keys “Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart” Gotta admit that I’m not a fan either. Coldplay tunes should be left to Coldplay esp without the same instrumentation

Robyn’s Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart is just lovely.

Huge fan of robin just not this cover.

She can do no wrong on every front. Why is Robyn not the most massive star in the world?

I listen to Radio 1 every day on Sirius. The live lounge has been going for years, since when did EW pay any attention ? Just wondering.

Like Robin, but not a huge fan of her version of the song.
On a tangent though… the song that I most want to hear Coldplay cover is Paramore’s “Only Exception.” Chris Martin could do wonders with that vocal melody.

not a fan of Coldplay and i hate Every Teardrop is a Waterfall, but Robyn’s version really shows that this melody has some potential. Nice.

I like this version better than Coldplay! Admittedly the end notes are a bit out of tune but still, this version is simply amazing and Robyn deserves more credit as a musical artist! Every song she does is brilliant!

Great article. I can¡¯t wait to hear more about your research tool. If it is as good as your other products, then you will have another winner. Your article pretty much summed up what I have been seeing too. Great to see some hard data.
