Rilo Kiley break up; guitarist Blake Sennett blames 'deception, disloyalty, and greed'

rilo

After thirteen years, five albums, countless side projects, and nearly as many famous-person plus-ones, beloved indie rock outfit Rilo Kiley have finally called it quits.

And apparently, they have not gone softly into that L.A./Omaha night. When asked back in April to describe the state of the then-on-hiatus band, guitarist Blake Sennett responded: “I would say that if Rilo Kiley were…hmmm…a human being…hmmm…he’s probably laying on his back in a morgue with a tag on his toe. Now, I see movies where the dead get up and walk. And when they do that, rarely do good things happen.”

And today, Spinner.com quotes Sennett as saying of the split: “I just felt like there was a lot of deception, disloyalty, greed and things I don’t really want to submit myself to. I had related that frustration to music but I just thought, ‘I’m not going to put myself in that position again,’ so I said, ‘F— that, I can’t do this anymore.’” READ FULL STORY »

Dave Grohl throws out an audience member at Foo Fighters show for being a fighting fool

Dave Grohl has a reputation for being one of rockdom’s more genial inhabitants, and certainly I’ve always found the Foo Fighters head honcho to be an utterly affable interviewee.

But everyone’s rope has an end! Grohl reached his last night while playing a show at London’s Roundhouse venue, during which he stopped the Foos mid-song and demanded that some poltroon in a striped shirt be removed for allegedly fighting. Except the ex-Nirvana drummer didn’t use the word “poltroon.”

You can find out what word he did use in the expletive-filled footage of the moment below: READ FULL STORY »

Today in awesome videos: A bad lip reading of a Michael Bublé hit yields your new summer jam, 'Russian Unicorn'

If you’ve ever wanted to hear adult contemporary crooner Michael Bublé sing lines like, “I need a woman with a Benz looking to lose it,” and “I’ma blast yo’ brains, talking full on sex,” look no further.

Thanks to the endlessly creative folks over at Bad Lip Reading, Bublé’s wholesome music video for his pop ditty “Haven’t Met You Yet” has been converted into an absurd thumper called “Russian Unicorn,” which is just as gleefully ridiculous as the title suggests, but a whole lot more catchy than it probably has any right to be.

Check out the video below:

Grammy-award winning singer-songwriter R. Kelly, 44, is in danger of losing his Chicago-area home.

Yahoo reports that the R&B artist has not made mortgage payments on the multimillion-dollar mansion in more than a year and that property lenders may seize it soon.

A foreclosure action filed in June states that Kelly has been delinquent on payments since June 2010. Kelly is currently headlining a national tour, supporting his latest album, Love Letter.

Lil Wayne apologizes for album delay with new 'Sorry 4 the Wait' mixtape

sorry-4-the-wait-cover

Since his release from prison, fans of Lil Wayne have been looking forward to his next album, Tha Carter IV.

And honestly, we should already have it by now. Weezy’s sequel to his 2008 smash Carter III was originally slated for a spring release, but has been pushed back to Aug. 29. And with his latest single “How to Love” sitting pretty in the top 10 of Billboard hot 100 singles chart, that date finally seems like a reality.

Still, Wayne feels that an apology is is order. Enter Sorry 4 the Wait, a mixtape that he released this morning that functions as an appetizer to Carter IV. On it, he jacks beats from recent hits like Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep,” Beyonce’s “Run the World (Girls),” and Big Sean’s “My Last.”

Lyrically there’s not much new territory traveled here–just more raps about his own excellence, be it in the recording studio or in the sack. And frankly, it lacks the passion and energy of his last tape, 2009′s No Ceilings.

Have you heard Sorry 4 the Wait yet? What do you think of it? Let us know.

Beyonce's professional split with her dad sparked by stolen funds? Matthew Knowles takes those claims to court

Beyoncé and her father/longtime manager Matthew Knowles parted ways professionally in a seemingly amicable way back in March.

But now some odd details of the split are coming to light: Yesterday, Knowles filed papers in a Houston court claiming that Live Nation—the massive concert conglomerate behind Beyoncé’s past tours—erroneously fingered him for stealing money from his daughter, which eventually led to his ousting as her manager.

According to the documents, which EW has obtained, Knowles claims the touring company made “false statements” to Beyoncé that he had pilfered funds while he was her manager. That led to an October 2010 audit conducted by Beyoncé’s legal team, and his subsequent firing.

Knowles claims he didn’t steal anything and has asked to depose Live Nation employees about how they came to their conclusions in the audit.

A spokesperson for Live Nation had no comment on the matter, and representatives for Beyoncé have yet to return requests from EW.

Miranda Lambert on VH1's 'Behind the Music': The star talks about her early romance with Blake Shelton -- EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW VIDEO

Just how did country stars Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton get together? The newest episode of VH1′s Behind the Music: Miranda Lambert—which will air on the cable network tomorrow, July 13, at 10 p.m.—tells the full story, and EW has the exclusive preview clip of the hour.

Behind the Music delves into Lambert’s relationship with Shelton, specifically how their attraction began during a simple duet while he was still married to his ex-wife. “He’s hilarious,” Lambert recounts, in the exclusive clip, which you can find below. “We had instant chemistry, just like messing with each other, and he’s real easy to be around.”

Lambert’s mother talks about the pair’s relationship, too, but it’s Shelton chiming in that’s especially juicy. “I’ve never had that kind of experience with anybody,” he remembers. “I was a married guy, you know? Standing up there and singing with somebody and going, ‘Man, this shouldn’t be happening.’ Looking back on that, I was falling in love with her, right there on stage.” Adds Lambert: “It was just like this draw to each other. It was just sort of this inevitable chemistry.”

Fellow country stars Loretta Lynn, Sheryl Crow, Kenny Chesney, and Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott also illuminate Lambert’s life via interviews for the show.

EW has the exclusive first look at the episode. Watch the full, exclusive preview video here:
