Dear EW commenter who watched Scotty McCreery’s new video and wondered, “Has there ever been any country artists—successful ones—that stir the pot a little? You know, edgy, unconventional, dangerous?” it’s time for you to meet Miranda Lambert.
The country superstar, who finally got her due last year with three #1 hits, has released a new song called “Baggage Claim,” the first single off of her forthcoming Four the Record album, dropping this fall.
In typical Miranda Lambert fashion, the song, which features “Georgia Clay” singer Josh Kelley on background vocals, is a cheeky tell-off to a man with too much emotional “baggage” for her no-nonsense taste.

If you were at all worried that Lambert’s crossover smash “The House That Built Me” would steer her new record in a softer direction, “Baggage Claim” should quell your fears. “Go on and take your little business trip, with that sweet little habit that you can’t kick,” she deadpans before continuing, “You better call your Mama when you get to town, ‘cuz I ain’t gonna be hanging around at the baggage claim.”
And for you fans of “Gunpowder and Lead” and “Kerosene,” Lambert hasn’t lost her affinity for destroying her ex’s stuff. “Come and pick it up, pick it up, before I blow it up in flames,” she warns with a vocal fire of her own. In other words: Don’t screw up, Blake Shelton.

I LOVE Baggage Claim! Again Miranda has written a great song w/ a feel unlike anything that is currently on country radio. Can’t wait for her album.

I think she wants to get back to that no nonsense bad girl approach that defined her first two albums. The last album showed that she’s matured, but don’t forget that she has her bad side when she chews up her two timing cheating men for this next album!
