Great band, even better live! Saw them open for Taylor and I think they made everyone in the audience crowd despite the fact they were not playing for their target audience. Their music is like going to church, preach NeedtoBreathe!

Great band, even better live! Saw them open for Taylor and the rocked out! I think they made everyone in the crowd fans despite the difference in target audiences. Their music is like going to church! Preach on!

Yes, Yes, Yes, they are fantastic live! Mesmerizing! Also saw then open for TS and up to that point only knew the most recent radio song Something Beautiful. I enjoyed them so much that the next day I downloaded their first 3 albums. Super talented and great mesages in their music. Hoping that they come back to Philly as a headliner sometime soon. Are you listening, NeedtoBreath? Come back to Philadelphia!!!!!

I first heard of these guys when I saw them as part of a triple bill with Serena Rider and Green River Ordinance a year or so ago. They blew me away and made me an instant fan.

Blake Shelton…Lady Antebellum…now Needtobreathe….All this country coverage would be a good thing if there was an all time high of country pop crossover hits…which there aren’t. In fact the country crossover hits are at all time low, and yet y’all keep shoving country down our throats on your website and in your magazine, cause its a ‘safe topic’…regardless of whether its spawning any actual hits. Jason Aldean has had a top 10 album all summer, and a top 10 Hot 100 hit with “Dirt Road Anthem” and yet, no top 40 airplay on the song…what does that tell you?? EW Staff wake up.

They aren’t even a country band…. so cool story. Never have been, if you listened to any of their stuff.

      • Kristen

Yeah, southern rock and country are pretty different.

So… EW is only suppose to cover country artists if they have a pop crossover hit? If you looked at the Billboard Albums chart from last week there was a total of 6 albums in the top 20. So what does that tell you? Country may be a ‘safe topic’ but it is also a popular topic.

People only see what they wanna see. All i see here is yet another story where they get to mention their darling Taylor Swift. Taylor has had an incredible summer tour tickets sales wise…but thats because teens are attending the show with their parents. Taylor hasn’t has any ‘true’ pop hits off this album since “Mine”…and yet here they go mentioning her again, just like hawking Kristin Stewart in that video last week by an unknown artist that doesn’t even have their music available on iTunes for people to buy. They are force feeding topics they think America cares about while completely ignoring genres like the Dance community as I have stated numerous times before. No mention or even coverage of the big Electric Zoo Festival in NYC this past weekend….It sucks that so many people confuse fandom with blind loyalty these days. I am a fan of all genres of music and a long time subscriber for half my life to a magazine that I feel no longer covers all the bases. I can’t be the only fan/customer that feels that way.

I get what you are saying and I agree that it would be more refreshing if coverage of music artists went beyond Lady GaGa, Lil Wayne, Taylor Swift etc. I suppose I was taken aback by your surprise that EW wrote about another country artist when this has always been the norm.

These guys are freaking fantastic. Forget about all the other albums coming out this fall, I’m so looking forward to this. The Outsiders is still one of my favorite albums. I’m so GLAD EW is covering them.

    • Kennedy

Definitely! And have you seen them live?! Even better than the album. If you ever get the chance, go for it! This is such an exciting opportunity for exposure for them. The only downside of the growth of their fanbase is the concerts won’t be as personal and they aren’t gonna be able to meet & greet as many people. But I think it’s worth it if they can share their music with the world!

  • Kristen

I’ve seen NeedToBreathe 4 times live and they have never once disappointed. Their music has been solid since Daylight, and so far The Reckoning sounds like their best CD yet. It is so great to know that these guys are finally getting the recognition they deserve.

Amo esses caras! Tem talento de sobra e as músicas são fantásticas. Aguardo o lançamento! Valeu Needtobreathe!

  • John

Just to clarify. Needtobreathe is NOT a country bad. They never were. They are and have always been a rock band that happens to be touring with a country artist. I love NTB and have seen them live more times than I can remember. The Taylor Swift crowd is not their typical audience, but finally they’re getting the exposure they deserve. Rock On NTB!

  • Kennedy

    Agreed!!
