Rush fans need to get over it. They have a half dozen great songs, and then a bunch of mediocre noise. The only band that is more overrated in the past 30 years is Radiohead
If you don’t know who the Small Faces are, you should head over to youtube now. They had a dozen or so Top 20 hits in Europe and the UK and were a stated huge influence on artists like the Clash, Elvis Costello, Oasis, Billy Bragg, Squeeze, the Jam, the Libertines…..Presumably you’ve heard of a few of them? And frontman Steve Marriott was one of the greatest rock singers in history.
Love them or hate them, it always amazes me to read how huge Hall and Oates once were…I mean massive. Seriously. Look it up. And yet they get absolutely no respect whatsoever. That said, I totally get how people would put Depeche, the Cure, and the Smiths together. They’re all from GB from a similar time period with music that, in the end, sounds somewhat similar, although Depeche is clearly very electronic.
And GnR deserve it. AFD was and remains an amazing album.
I hope Joan Jett gets it, too, but the HOF’s track record on women has been abysmal.
Why are RUSH still not on the list and instead you have The Cure whose lead singer looks like Edward Scissorhands and Guns and Roses. Do you think it’s smart putting Axl and Slash in the same room
Actually Slash and Axl are on good speaking terms. They just don’t wanna play together.
And todays music landscape has been more influenced by The Cure than it has by Rush. Rush should be in don’t get me wrong. But that doesn’t mean The Cure doesn’t deserve it as well.
Until Judas Priest is in thr HOF it is a complete joke and ridiculous.
until the Mats are enshrined the whole thing is a meaningless joke…the hell with rush or def leppard or pat benatar…same goes for pistols and poesies and cheap trick…the replacements were gods..isn’t it supposed to be about the music? not records sold , not #1 singles..but , the music and what it means to rock and roll…no hip-hop , no rap , no country , no pop…rock and roll…sweet christ , son volt is more deserving than about half of what’s in and who’s nominated…and they’re a damn y’allternative band…
