'Michael Forever': Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, Cee Lo Green, and Michael Jackson's children appear at controversial tribute show

Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, and Ne-Yo all performed at the controversy-plagued Michael Jackson tribute concert “Michael Forever” earlier today, according to the AP. Jackson’s three children — Paris, 13, Prince, 14, and Michael Joseph Jr., 9 — also appeared onstage to address the audience at the show, which took place in Cardiff, Wales.

Ne-Yo started the concert with a performance of “Billie Jean;” Jackson’s brothers Marlon, Tito, and Jackie tackled the Jackson 5 hit “Blame It On the Boogie” with British boy band JLS; and Christina Aguilera sang “Smile.” Meanwhile, Beyonce performed “I Wanna Be Where You Are” via satellite. The Jackson children returned to the stage for the finale, “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough.”

“Michael Forever” had attracted criticism for a variety of reasons, including the fact that it was set to coincide with the manslaughter trial of Dr. Conrad Murray, who is accused of contributing to  Jackson’s death. Several of Jackson’s other siblings, including Janet, declined to take part in the concert and last week the Black Eyed Peas withdrew from the show, citing “unavoidable circumstances.”

Jermaine was not apart of the concert, and felt that it was inappropriate given the trial of Conrad Murray currently taking place.

      • lisa g.

Shocker! I wonder who spearheaded this then bc I’ve always thought Jermaine was the self -appointed “brains” or business man the family!

      • Acaseofgeo

Jermaine basically showed his TRUE colors when he announced MJ’s death. He said, “My brother the Legendary King of Pop…..died”. Now tell me. If you are so stunned and saddened by a sudden death of a loved one, is it REALLY necessary to throw hyperbole in the death announcement. It was cringe-worthy to watch. He should’ve said, “My beloved brother…..died”. I think the wording of the announcement speaks volumes even if I haven’t exactly put it to a good explanation here.

    • Kelly

Jermaine has been against it from the start and wasn’t even there. Plus, if no one cares then why did it sell out and why are you posting a comment on here? Go sit down somewhere and be quiet.

      • Giggity

Awwwww….He’s dead Kelly. Get over it.

      • ConcernedSoul

@Giggity, why don’t you do everyone a favor and shut up. Or better yet, go back to your Bieber forum and continue your endless fawning.

      • natch

        …he’s still dead………

    • Dana

      Looooooove that song!!!!!!!!!!

    • Nicole

I’m sure your MJ videos will be such a treat to see. Thank you for the well wshies and prayers. I am hoping this will pass us all together because NY is not really prepared for what they think will head this way. You have a wonderful MJ weekend as well. Take care

  • Ugghhh

A tribute to a pedophile how wonderful. What an over-rated piece of Garbage MJ was.

*Claps* Well said! King of the child molesters is what this fruit was! Kng of pop was & always will be ELIVS!!

      • Kinna

You’re kidding right? Elvis has always been associated with Rock not Pop. Get a clue.

  • idviceroy

I love MJ, but this concert really was unnecessary, and from the sounds of it, a bit weak. It really needed to have Janet on board and performing.

    • lisa g.

Same here. It seems very premature.

  • Barack Palin

Michael Jackson isn’t the only dead celebrity. Where’s the tribute concert entitled Anne Francis Forever?

    • Manny

      Too soon…

    • Morgan

      Or Michael Hutchence forever!!!!!!

    • Morgan

Or what about Farrah Fawcett. She died the same day as MJ and no one even noticed that.

      • ConcernedSoul

Well Farah was by no means as popular or contributed to music (or in her case, movies) as much as MJ did. MJ touched millions worldwide with his music, dance and persona. Not to diminish Farah’s work, but she was mostly noted for her tv work in Charlie’s Angels and to be honest, it was nothing special. Either way, R,I.P to both of them.

      • Giggity

@ConcernedSoul…MJ also touched millions of little boys, should he get a tribute concert for that too???!!????

      • ConcernedSoul

Oh and do you have incontrovertible proof that he did? What exactly do you know that the prosecution missed out on when they tried to crucify an innocent man? Oh and I can wait till you look up the word ‘incontrovertible’, you seem like the kind of person that wouldn’t be too familiar with big words.

      • lisa g.

Is Farrah really being compared to Michael? Lmao

      • RyeBread

        LOL @ Giggity

  • Bill Tetley

    Awww. It’s little Blankykins!

  • Dinjab

I thought Michael’s mother was the guardian of his kids. She’s letting them participate in these freak shows? Did she not learn anything 40 years ago?

    • lisa g.

  • Elvis the Pelvis

    No, meeeee foreverrrrrr!

    • Chuck D

Elvis was a hero to most but he never meant sh!t to me

      • Kinna

Agree. Elvis was talented but I don’t really like his music

  • Larry Lumpkin

Where’s Bubble’s the wonder monkey? Didn’t he get in on this too?

    • Malik

Hey GT! I plan on having a full weekned of MJ with videos, This Is It, and the Dangerous tour! I will be keeping you and all those up there in my thoughts and prayers. I know how those hurricanes can be! I live in Texas and they are not fun. Anyway hope you have a wonderful MJ weekned and stay safe! Take care!

  • Hilda

Really!? Who fricken cares! He is dead, let it go! He wasn’t that great in life,he won’t be even greater in death either!

  • Mitch

I didn’t watch the whole concert, but the ‘controversy’ around it is stupid – it’s just a friggin tribute concert. There will be many more to come, too.

I watched Christina and Yolanda’s performances. Yolanda’s was incredible. Christina’s rendition of both Smile and Dirty Diana was … jaw dropping / perfection. Especially on Smile – that voice – there is no one who can sing like that. There hasn’t been for decades.

    • lisa g.

Xtina is our nations best vocalist BY FAR!!!!

      • Brian Wallace

From the looks of her, she’s eaten several nation’s food supplies.

      • lisa g.

Yeah don’t know what’s up w/ that! She’s looking bad as hell!

  • Moi

    You got their names wrong.

Prince = Michael Joseph Jackson Jr. (After his birth, his name was changed to Prince Michael Joseph Jackson, in honor of MJ’s late grandfather, Prince Scruse. However, the kid’s name was never LEGALLY changed, lol.)

Blanket = Prince Michael Jackson II

    And Paris is . . . well, Paris. :P

  • Josh

I mean… we can all say it now, right? Those aren’t his kids. Two or more desperate white people engineered those children after they sold them to Michael Jackson. Those three were part of his totally insane desire to appear to the outside world to be white. As talented as he was, this was a mentally ill human being who admittedly gave wine to children who would then sleep in his bed. Even after his pedophilia arrests he would still surround himself with kids onstage, completely oblivious to how it looked to the outside world. He mangled his face with plastic surgery and he died like the richest junkie in the world would have, begging his personal doctor to shoot him full of horse tranquilizer. .
You know, Usher is pretty great? Can you all feel the way you do about Michael but for Usher. That would be much less creepy.

    • Kinna

Whether or not those kids are his biologically or not doesn’t matter. He’s the only father they’ve ever known and he loved them. MJ had vitiligo (which causes skin to lose its pigment) and that, at least, contributed to his ‘white’ appearence. And whether or not a person is a junkie or rich doesn’t affect their level of genius or their impact on the world.

Usher is pretty great…but he’s no Michael Jackson.

  • Michael

I wasn’t surprised it didn’t have the fanfare Michael had been known for. Even his memorial service was televised all over the world, but this wasn’t. This really wasn’t the time to honor him with the focus being so much of the doctors’ manslaughter trial.

  • DC

Gosh! Will this family ever just let him rest in peace or are they always going to prostitute his memory as well as his kids for more money? Enough already.
