Listen to Amy Winehouse's unreleased Nas duet 'Like Smoke'

Amy Winhouse’s upcoming posthumous album Lioness: Hidden Treasures won’t be released until December 5, but today, two tracks from the eagerly anticipated collection hit the net.

One is a reggae-ish cover of Ruby & The Romantics’ “Our Day Will Come.” The other (below) is an original neo-jazz collaboration with rapper Nas called “Like Smoke.”

For whatever reason, the track, which was recorded in 2008 with Winhouse’s longtime producer Salaam Remi, never got released — perhaps because it does feel as though a second Winehouse verse is missing. Still, it does serve as a sobering reminder of her irresistible signature sound.

Listen to the song over at Missinfo.tv, as YouTube versions are quickly getting flagged and removed. READ FULL STORY »

Jimmy Fallon spoofs Justin Bieber's 'Baby' drama: watch video here

It’s not his baby!

After the news broke yesterday that Justin Bieber is reportedly the father of a newborn, “Baby” spoofs were inevitable.

So thank God for Jimmy Fallon and his “(It’s Not My) Baby,” on last night’s Late Night. Fallon once again rocked the Biebs’ signature hairdo and did a pretty great imitation of his shuffling dance steps and repeated pop ‘n locks. The best part? Black Thought of The Roots providing the Ludacris-esque backup to Fallon’s Bieber.

Miranda Lambert on Kim Kardashian's divorce: 'You get what you asked for'

Miranda Lambert

When Kim Kardashian announced her divorce, it stirred up some feelings for country singer Miranda Lambert, who just married fellow Nashville star Blake Shelton in May.

“I just kind of feel sorry for her in a way,” Lambert tells CMT.com. “In another way, I don’t. Because you get what asked for. Living that kind of a lifestyle, you know that you’re gonna have backlash. I think that it’s stressful enough to get married for regular people, like Blake and I, and I can’t imagine all that pressure on her.”

Lambert added that it’s sad that the divorce has made headline news when “there are way bigger issues to deal with.” And maybe those “bigger issues” include her new album, For the Record? “If it wasn’t for her,” says Lambert, laughing, “I probably would have been on the cover of USA Today.”

Lambert recently talked with EW about her own commitment to Shelton, acknowledging that he was married when they first got together, and she shrugged at tabloid rumors that their early relationship may not have been totally faithful. “When we said those vows, I already forgave him,” she said. “If it’s true or not, I don’t care, and he feels the same for me.”

All that matters, she said, is the promise they made on their wedding day: “My parents have been married 33 years. My mama always said this for as long as I can remember, and I said it to Blake before we got married: ‘Divorce is not an option.’ Blake’s mom and dad have both been divorced a couple of times and remarried, and so it’s a whole different thought process on his part. But what I’ve brought to the relationship is, you don’t quit. And one fight does not equal this is over.”

For more on Lambert, including her obsession with Oxygen’s Snapped and her latest hobby, bow-hunting, check out the issue of EW that’s on stands this Friday.

You know the Wu-Tang rules, kids: C.R.E.A.M. (Casting Rules Everything Around Movies).

It may be that getting the Morgan — as in erstwhile comedian and 30 Rock star Tracy — will bring in maximum dollar dollar bills y’all; he’s the most famous name mentioned so far in the move to bring Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s life story to the big screen.

ODB’s cousin Raeshawn has penned the tale of the man born Russell Tyrone Jones’ rise to hip-hop legend before his 2004 death from a drug overdose just two days before his 36th birthday.

Eddie Griffin (Malcolm and Eddie, Undercover Brother) is also in the running, according to press reports, and he may be the most likely candidate; he actually knew Dirty, and has reportedly already signed a letter of intent to take on the role.

“Eddie Griffin is down,” surviving Wu-Tang Clan member RZA told XXL. “Me and Eddie talked about it, laughed about it. Tracy Morgan, he wanna do it [too]. I said ‘Ya’ll both kinda can do it…  [but] Eddie spent time with Dirty, they knew each other well.”

Readers, tell us what you think: who has sufficient amounts of grilled-out, Wu-growly shimmy shimmy ya to take on ODB in the cineplex — Morgan, Griffin, or someone else casting agents haven’t considered yet?

Justin Bieber tweets about paternity accusations

This probably isn’t how Justin Bieber thought he would spend the day his Christmas album hit the streets.

The release of Under the Mistletoe may be the 17-year-old singer’s current focus, but much of the internet chatter today is directed at the paternity suit being thrown his way. In case you’re late to the party, a 20-year-old California woman alleges that she had sex with Bieber in a bathroom at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and that her child belongs to him. Entertainment Weekly received a statement from Bieber’s publicist last night, which dismissed the rumors as “malicious, defamatory, and demonstrably false.”

The details of the suit are sealed thanks to a California law that protects the identity of the child in these situations. Bieber himself has been making vague allusions to the situation on his Twitter; a few hours ago, he tweeted, “So I’m going to ignore the rumors…and focus on what is real. An opportunity to help by doing what i love. Judge me on the music!”

Before that, he noted “All the rumors…the gossip….I’m gonna focus on the positives….the music.” His fans have been responding with support, save for the Swedish girls who simply insist that he visit Sweden, no matter what he tweets.

The “help” he’s referring to is the charity push attached to Under the Mistletoe. As he explained on his official website, a portion of the proceeds from every copy of the album sold will go towards one of a number of charities, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Musicians On Call.

Foster the People release mind-bending video for 'Call It What You Want': Watch it here!

Unlike many of their come-from-nowhere cohorts, Foster the People didn’t get big thanks to a viral-ready music video — their  “Pumped Up Kicks” got to the upper echelon of the Billboard Hot 100 via word of mouth, radio play, and a commitment to playing the heck out of it in concert.

That doesn’t mean the Foster boys can’t put together a great video. In fact, they just pulled back the curtain on the clip for their next single “Call It What You Want,” and it’s an attention-getter.

Directed by Ace Norton (who also lensed the little-seen but still-awesome clip for “Helena Beat”), it features the band in a number of unusual scenarios, including a key sequence that finds a series of women wearing T-shirts that spell out “FOSTER” getting shot in the chest and bleeding blue paint. Does Mark Foster have an obsession with guns or what?

Elsewhere in the video, there’s a flopping goldfish, lots of action in a bathtub, and some giant gold Hulk Hands. It’s all pretty trippy, and occasionally staged like something Stanley Kubrick would have hallucinated as he was falling asleep. (That’s a compliment, by the way.) Check it out below. Coldplay earns third straight number one album on Billboard 200; Kelly Clarkson's 'Stronger' fares less well

cold-play

Although Coldplay’s latest album, Mylo Xyolto, hasn’t been as warmly received as the band’s previous efforts, it still topped the Billboard 200 chart with ease this week.

In its first seven days, Mylo Xyolto sold 447,000 copies, marking the third-best debut of the year behind Lady Gaga’s Born This Way (1.1 million) and Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV (964,000), as well as the band’s third straight number one album.

Coldplay’s last effort, 2008′s Viva La Vida Or Death and All His Friends, shifted 721,000 copies in its first week, but that album had a number one smash single in “Viva La Vida.” Mylo Xyolto‘s lead single “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall” only peaked at number 14, though the British rocker’s new single “Paradise” has quickly climbed to number 15.

Kelly Clarkson’s fifth album Stronger had a slightly weaker debut than her last effort, starting in second place with 163,000. Clarkson’s 2009 effort All I Ever Wanted debuted with 255,000 copies, but once again, that album had a higher charting lead single in “My Life Would Suck Without You” (No. 1) than current single “Mr. Know It All” (No. 18 so far).

Crooner Michael Bublé eased into third place with 141,000 scans of his new holiday compilation Christmas. Given Bublé’s gigantic appeal around the holiday season, (I’ve given my mom three of his albums on three separate Christmases… and okay, I miiight listen to them too) the set should be a powerhouse seller over the next two months.

Adele held strong in fourth, moving 107,000 units of 21 in its 36th week on the chart, and she was followed by two more new releases. In fifth, Toby Keith’s Clancy’s Tavern sold 69,000 copies. That result gave the outspoken star his 10th number one album on the country chart. Rocker Tom Waits was close behind in sixth place, moving 63,000 of his new disc, Bad As Me.

Scotty McCreery, Lady Antebellum, Tony Bennett, and Casting Crowns rounded out the top ten. Their respective albums have now sold 384,000, 718,000, 465,000, and 129,000 total units. Find the full list here: READ FULL STORY »

Rihanna scores eleventh No. 1 single with 'We Found Love,' becomes fastest solo artist to chart 20 Top 10 hits

Categories: Charts, Pop, Rihanna

Andrew Evans/PR Photos

Somewhere, Stevie Wonder’s hanging his head in defeat: Rihanna just earned her eleventh No. 1 hit with “We Found Love,” breaking the three-way tie on 10 career no. 1s that the pair had shared with Janet Jackson.

Rihanna now ties Whitney Houston for Hot 100 Diva-dom, but still trails behind quite a few icons, including the Beatles (20), Mariah Carey (18), and Elvis Presley (17).

But what’s perhaps even more noteworthy is how quickly RiRi has racked up those hits: With “We Found Love,” Rihanna made Billboard history by collecting 20 Hot 100 Top 10 singles faster than any solo artist, in just six years and four months. That beats Madonna’s record by five months and ranks Rihanna second only to the Beatles in her short run to 20 Top 10s.

Mumford & Sons debut new song on Philadelphia radio show: Hear it here!

Mumford-and-Sons

Over the weekend while everybody was getting spooky for Halloween, Mumford & Sons decided to unleash some spirits for Philadelphia radio listeners: During an in-studio session for Radio 104.5, the band played two songs, one of which was a brand new entry in the Mumford catalog — called either “Ghosts” or “Ghosts That We Knew.”

The new tune (frontman Marcus Mumford admitted that they hadn’t come to a conclusion on the title yet, though he was adamant about the latter title being the winner), presumably comes from the upcoming album that the band figures to get out some time in the next few months.

Like many of the songs from their Grammy-nominated debut Sigh No More, “Ghosts That We Knew” does a slow build around a beautifully ethereal melody until it gradually climaxes with a soaring chorus, centered around the couplet, “I will hold as long as you like/ Just promise me we’ll be alright.” It has shown up in live shows throughout their most recent tour, but this is the best-sounding and most complete version we’ve heard yet.

Give “Ghosts That We Knew” a spin below. READ FULL STORY »

'Idol' alums Haley Reinhart and Casey Abrams record 'Baby It's Cold Outside': Hear a preview here!

Season 10 of American Idol featured two of the jazziest contestants the show has ever hosted: Haley Reinhart and Casey Abrams. The two growlers wowed audiences with their soulful performances, and their scat-tastic duet on “Moanin’” proved to be one of the highlights of the entire season.

Naturally, Haley and Casey didn’t want to let a good thing go, so they reunited to record the smooth Christmas classic “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” which will be available for download on November 21.

You’ll have to wait until that day to hear the full track, but here on the Music Mix, we’ve got an exclusive 90-second preview of the seasonal anthem, which Abrams says “reminds you of the fireplace.” He lauds the track for being a “straight up a jazz standard” with “no four-on-the-floor bass drum.”

For the next 24 hours, give the sweetly sung song a listen below. After that, it’s gone! READ FULL STORY »
