Adam Lambert was arrested outside a club in Finland on Thursday night for fighting with his boyfriend (Finnish Big Brother star Sauli Koskinen), according to multiple reports. The dispute began inside a Helsinki bar and spilled out into the street, where the cops apprehended the duo and took them into custody. They were reportedly questioned and released.

UPDATE (12/22 12:30 p.m. ET) Lambert tweeted about the scuffle on Friday: “Jetlag+Vodka=blackout. Us÷blackout=irrational confusion. jail+guilt+press=lesson learned. Sauli+Adam+hangover burgers= laughing bout it. :)

Koskinen responded to the incident with a blog post (roughly translated from Finnish): “The limelight is not easy. But celebrities are only human people. Love is not easy but it is forever! … [E]verything is really good! … Hey, the evening was pretty funny and the hangover is already gone! Yay!

“P.S. By the way, paparazzi, including those at the rear door of the police station … Go home already!”

Dutch editor fired over racial slur to describe Rihanna

Categories: Rihanna

The editor of a Dutch fashion magazine has been fired after using a racial slur referring to Barbados-born Rihanna that set off a social media furor and prompted an outraged response from the singer. Eva Hoeke, editor of Jackie, and the magazine’s publisher said in a joint statement on Facebook that Hoeke’s use of a racial slur — “although without malicious intentions” — was cause for her departure after eight years on the job.

Hoeke said she was unaware the word was so loaded because “you hear it all the time on radio and TV.” It was used in an article on how to dress your daughter like a pop star. By Wednesday, the Facebook apology had attracted hundreds of comments, many condemning Hoeke but some saying the reaction was overblown.

The music world lost a number of great contributors and classic artists this year, and far too many of them clearly had unfinished business. EW has already memorialized many of them, from the tragic end of taken-before-their-time artists like Amy Winehouse, Heavy D, and Gerard Smith of TV on the Radio, to the decades-long influence of industry icons such as Jerry Lieber, Clarence Clemons, Don Kirshner, and Nick Ashford. They will all be missed because each one of them left an indelible mark on the music world.

In an effort to tip our collective hat to them one last time before the year is out, we’ve put together a special (though by no means exhaustive) playlist, which features a key song that best sums up the career of the dearly departed, from the one hit wonders to the career giants. Enjoy reliving each one’s greatest moments.

Jon Bon Jovi: Dead... or alive? (Hint: It was a hoax)

Reports of his death have been greatly exaggerated. Yesterday, 49-year-old rocker Jon Bon Jovi was the latest casualty of Internet rumors claiming he had died of a massive heart attack. Before fans could indulge in too much gnashing of teeth or plan an epic 21-can Aquanet salute synced to “Blaze of Glory,” Bon Jovi himself took to Facebook and Twitter to set the record straight with a cheeky pic (right) of himself holding a sign that read “Heaven looks a lot like New Jersey Dec. 19, 2011 6:00.” READ FULL STORY »

Paul McCartney is releasing an album of standards — plus two new songs of his own. The former Beatle announced Monday that his new disc will be out on Feb. 7. It doesn’t have a title yet. He’s already streaming one song, “My Valentine,” on his website.

McCartney says he and John Lennon were inspired in their own writing by some of the standards. Some of them he first heard when his father performed them at home on piano.

Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder make appearances on the disc, which was recorded with Diana Krall and her band. McCartney says he’s been thinking about the project for 20 years and, at age 69, figured “if I don’t do it now, I’ll never do it.”

Britney Spears engaged

Following up on rampant online buzz, People is reporting that Britney Spears is engaged to Jason Trawick, the agent she’s been officially dating since May of last year.

Spears previously hinted at big news in a tweet: “OMG. Last night Jason surprised me with the one gift I’ve been waiting for. Can’t wait to show you! SO SO SO excited!!!! Xxo”

No word yet on whether or not Trawick’s proposal was anything like the time Brit got the Titanic necklace from that astronaut. (That really happened, right?)

Spears has been married twice before: Once to old friend Jason “I Wasn’t In Seinfeld” Alexander in a blink-of-an-eye Vegas hitching, and once to an underground Brazilian rapper who later starred in Celebrity Fit Club. What was his name again?

Mazel tov, Brit. Here’s hoping you finally found someone who will e-mail your heart on the regular.
