'Glee' covers 'All I Want For Christmas Is You'; makes Christmas dreams come true: watch the video here

Love is clearly in the air at McKinley High. And in this just-released clip from next week’s Christmas episode of Glee, Lima, Ohio’s favorite teenagers will certainly be rocking around the Christmas tree.

Much like the “Most Wonderful Day of the Year,” tune from last season’s holiday episode, this “All I Want For Christmas Is You” cover features the whole crew of kids (They’re all together again!) getting into the holiday spirit—and searching for a little mistletoe, presumably, as all the couples are sharing flirty glances while they dance the school day away. Who hasn’t used tinsel as a boa while decorating the tree?

Fashion update: Rachel’s ensembles are typically pretty hit-or-miss, but I’m coveting both her red party dress and her updo in this clip. And Blaine’s blazer may be the best part of this whole thing.

So much happiness, all in one two-minute video! Check out the Christmas cheer below: READ FULL STORY »

My Morning Jacket and the Killers drop new Christmas songs, but are they the most rockin' holiday songs of all time? You be the judge

Earlier this week, the Music Mix premiered a video of My Chemical Romance’s Yo Gabba Gabba! performance of “Every Snowflake Is Different (Just Like You),” a song that will hopefully become a standard for years to come.

Luckily for everybody, My Chem’s foray into winter cheer isn’t a rarity. Traditional Christmas music can’t help but grate on the nerves, simply because of its sheer overexposure.

But every year brings a new crop of holiday tunes that turn up the rock and help provide a bit of respite from yet another choral version of “Deck the Halls.”

In fact, some bands have made trying to break free from the holiday doldrums an annual tradition. The Killers have produced a Christmas song every year since 2006, with a few of those tunes (most notably 2008′s “Joseph, Better You Than Me”) ranking among the band’s best work. This year’s track is called “The Cowboy’s Christmas Ball” and is adapted from a poem of the same name. It’s the honky-tonk stomp Brandon Flowers’ mustache always promised, even though his excellent facial hair is absent from the video below. READ FULL STORY »

Adele says fans may have to wait a while for her next record

adele

When Entertainment Weekly visited with Adele last spring, the singer said that she couldn’t wait to get back into the studio and record the follow-up to her hugely successful 21.

“I need to write my record,” explained the British chanteuse. “[My heart] is already broke. That’s why I need to write the record.” But Adele seems to have changed her tune about recording new tunes.

In a new email interview with Billboard, the 23 year old, who is currently recovering from throat surgery, makes clear that she is now in no hurry to return to the studio: “I imagine I’ll be 25 or 26 by the time my next record comes out, as I haven’t even thought about my third record yet. I’m just gonna lay some concrete, set up home and just ‘be’ for a bit. I’ll disappear and come back with a record when it’s good enough. There will be no new music until it’s good enough and until I’m ready.” READ FULL STORY »

Pitbull and Chris Brown take the party to the sky in new video for 'International Love'

Categories: Chris Brown, Pitbull

RSVP to Pitbull’s party in the sky. The passported rapper, continuing his quest for world domination by 2012, has released another video, this time for his song “International Love” featuring Chris Brown.

The extra-planetary party — buildings can’t hold these guys down! — is a greenscreen orgy in the sky, complete with women, dance moves, and some oddly placed all-American body paint (at 3:20). I kept expecting a surprise Katy-Perry-circa-”E.T.” cameo.

I think my favorite part may be the repeated glare-downs over the glasses that both Pitbull and Chris “Too Cool for Gravity” Brown repeatedly rock.

Did we need further evidence that this has been Adele’s year sales-wise? Probably not. But for the benefit of anyone still debating the matter, iTunes has just announced that the British singer’s track “Rolling in the Deep” was the year’s top downloaded song while its parent album, 21, was 2011′s most popular collection. iTunes also named Adele its Artist of the Year.

21 was followed on the album list by Mumford & Sons’ Sigh No More and Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV. LMFAO claimed second place on the singles list with “Party Rock Anthem” while Katy Perry’s “Firework” was third.

You know that dream where you’re taking a driving test and the examiner turns out to be an on-the-lam thief with a briefcase full of money? And you get chased by the cops? And you’re Gabourey Sidibe?

Well, the two-man directing team Daniels (Chromeo’s “When the Night Falls,” Manchester Orchestra’s “Simple Math”) do know it, and have adapted said phantasmagoria into the new video for Foster the People‘s “Don’t Stop (Color on the Walls).”

Does the result feature the best use of a ludicrous false mustache in a cops-and-robbers-related music video since the Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage”? Check out the clip below and let us know: READ FULL STORY »

Adele or Faux-dele? Watch the singer's doppelganger in new 'Set Fire to the Rain' video

Adele better hurry up and release the official video for her third single off 21, because it looks like she’s got some (scarily similar) competition.

In this decidely non-official video for the soul star’s upcoming official third single “Set Fire to the Rain,” the song is reimagined as a love triangle between a woman, her boyfriend and her boyfriend’s lover, who appears to be stealing him away with some modern dance. Watch the clip, intercut with moody, hidden-in-the-shadows shots of Adele (or “Adele”), below:

Loved last night's cover of 'We Are Young' on 'Glee'? Meet the NYC indie rockers who wrote it, and hear their original

Last night on Glee, New Directions and the Troubletones celebrated the former’s victory at Sectionals with a rollicking cover of “We Are Young” by buzzy NY-based band fun. (yes, lowercase with a period).

Almost instantly, their version shot to #1 on iTunes — and will likely soon lead viewers to the song’s originators. The New York City trio — Nate Ruess, Andrew Dost, and Jack Antonoff — will release its second album, Some Nights, this coming February, and just announced tour dates for 2012 (the band will also be on Last Call with Carson Daly on Thursday, Dec. 8). EW talked with lead singer Ruess about the Glee cover, their sound, and why the band’s name ends in a period. READ FULL STORY »

Mitt Romney using Kid Rock's 'Born Free' as his official campaign song. UPDATE: Kid Rock responds

At a recent Dan Quayle endorsement rally for presidential candidate Mitt Romney in Arizona, the Mormon Republican politico walked onto the stage as Kid Rock’s “Born Free” played.

According to the Washington Post, the Springsteen-esque liberty call has been named Romney’s official campaign song, because, you know, no other candidate fits the lyrics “wild like an untamed stallion” quite like Romney does.

In all reality, the choice makes sense. The repeated “I was born free!” refrain puts the Kid Rock song into the same hopeful realm as Celine Dion’s “A New Day Has Come” and K.T. Tunstall’s “Suddenly I See” (which played at Obama rallies) — plus, it preemptively answers any critics who might claim that Romney wasn’t born in America. He was born FREE, haters!

UPDATE: Kid Rock responded to the matter on his official website blog:

“He and anyone else who wants to use my song do not need my permission. I said he could use it and I would say the same for any other candidate. I have to have a little faith that every candidate feels like he or she can help this country. Without faith, we got nothing. I make music to have it be heard. Merry Christmas folks! Rock on.

-Kid Rock

PS: Any candidate who makes “So Hott” their theme song has a good chance of getting my vote.
