Yes, a new season of American Idol is just kicking into high gear — but Idol obsessives have ten other seasons worth of contestants to follow, too.

Below, check out a few musical updates from some noteworthy contestants of Idol seasons past.

THIS… is American Idol roundup!

Season 8 champ Kris Allen‘s “The Vision of Love,” the first single off his sophomore effort, has arrived online, and it’s in the same driving-pop style of his Script cover first single, “Live Like We’re Dying.” (UPDATE: the leaked track has been removed from YouTube. Here’s a recent live performance of the song, instead)

Season 6 winner Jordin Sparks guests on rumored boyfriend Jason Derulo’s “It Girl” remix, which reenvisions the pop track as a Drake-esque slow burn.

The second American Idol, Ruben Studdard, recently released “June 28 (I’m single)” a neo-soul track that finds the “velvet teddy bear” lamenting the end of his marriage and looking to start a new relationship. Studdard’s fifth album Letters from Birmingham will be released March 13th.

Haley Reinhart already debuted her first single “Free” live last week (the song will be officially released on March 20, and she will perform it live on Idol on March 22), but over the weekend, Ms. Reinhart served up a truly gorgeous cover of “Wild Horses” with Slash and Myles Kennedy at Muhammad Ali’s 70th birthday celebration:

Fellow Season 10 alum Paul McDonald played a few catchy new tunes in L.A., including one called “Dollar Sign,” which took a jab at the music industry and Idol‘s management company 19 Entertainment. (“You can kiss my ass, 19.”)  He also sang a duet with wife Nikki Reed.

Daughtry announced that they would release “Outta My Head” as a third single from Break The Spell, which has seen sales far below those of the band’s first two albums:

Season 5 favorite Elliott Yamin has a new track out called “3 Words,” which is currently climbing the adult contemporary radio charts. His new album Let’s Get To What’s Real will be available on March 27th, 2012.

Clay Aiken also has a new single out called “Bring Back My Love,” from his compilation CD Steadfast, set to be released on March 26th.

Which of these new songs are you feeling, and which ones not so much? Let us know in the comments below.
