Dreamy singer Kat Edmonson first emerged with her 2009 debut Take to the Sky, a remarkable showcase for her distinctive jazz-coo vocals. That album was made up entirely of covers, from the classic (the Gershwin classic “Summertime”) to the truly unique (her groovy take on the Cardigans’ “Lovefool”).

Her new Kickstarter-aided album Way Down Low (out April 10) marks her first outing as a songwriter — including the original “Long Way Home,” an airy country duet with fellow Texan Lyle Lovett.

Listen to an exclusive stream of the song below.

Way Down Low features production by Danton Bollwer, Al Schmitt (who worked with Sam Cooke and Ray Charles), and Phil Ramone (the sonic mind behind Billy Joel’s The Stranger and Paul Simon’s Still Crazy After All These Years).
