Is Alicia Keys back? The R&B queen has been relatively quiet for a while — her last album, The Element of Freedom, was released in 2009, and her most recent production, son Egypt, arrived in 2010 — but today she returned with a bang (and a drumline).
The 31 year-old Keys, who first rose to stardom with her 2001 breakout Songs in A Minor, uploaded the first single off her upcoming fall album earlier today via her Twitter.
The upbeat “New Day” is a different sound for the usually more subdued Keys — a change undoubtedly due at least in part to her husband Swizz Beatz’s role as the track’s producer.
Listen to “New Day” here, and tell us what you think. Are you a fan of the new Swizzy-influenced Alicia?
