“Shoot the f—ing DJ,” Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong instructs in “Kill the DJ,” the latest single from his band’s upcoming album Uno. “Hold him underwater til the motherf—er drowns.”
OK! The accompanying new video delivers Armstrong’s DJ-homicide dreams a little more gently. Directed by Samuel Bayer, the clip begins with black-and-white footage of the boys revving their motorcycles and riding across the desert, like rock and rollers do. The boys end up at a rave-type affair, filled with disco balls and animal costumes and glowsticks.
Ew! Green Day look nonplussed as they enter, so they head straight for the stage and show the kids the power of guitar rock by playing a song that sounds like a mix of the Clash and the Arctic Monkeys.
