T.I. famously served two stints in prison at the near-height of his career, and that time is one of the many subjects the rapper delves into in tonight’s Behind the Music on VH1. The hour of television — which EW has an exclusive video sneak peek of below — is an update to the 2009 episode the series originally produced on T.I.
Of course, after T.I. (born Clifford Harris) was released from jail in 2010, he embarked on a media tour that found him talking about his time behind bars — and one of those appearances, a portion of a Larry King interview, is included in the exclusive clip below.
But T.I. also does a fresh interview with VH1, where he expresses some of the hardships of serving time. “I don’t think I have to sell the fact that prison sucks,” the rapper and father of six says in the exclusive clip below. “When you have your liberties and the loves of your life taken away from you, it puts a lot of things in perspective.”
You can catch the entire Behind the Music: T.I. episode tonight at 10 p.m. on VH1, but until then, whet your appetite with this exclusive sneak peek at the hour here on EW.com:
