Break out your baggy pants and bra tops — TLC is making a comeback album.

At least, T and C are. Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas and Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins announced this weekend in Liverpool that they’re hard at work on a series of projects — including their first new album in 10 years, a tour, and a VH1 biopic that will dramatize the events already told in Behind the Music‘s best-ever episode. While this news is exciting, it’s also bittersweet for fans who know the girl group can never truly be what it once was — TLC’s third member, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, died in a car crash in Honduras 10 years ago.

Still, the remaining members seem confident about their new album. “We’re going to still sound like TLC, evolving to whatever level we need to be at this time,” T-Boz told Rolling Stone. She isn’t worried about the duo’s songs sounding dated: “We’ve always grown throughout the years and have always had our own sound… When that stops working, maybe we’ll hang up the towel, but that still works.” And hey, there’s always the possibility that Left Eye will appear as a Tupac-style hologram on the new tour — if the group can scrounge up a bigger budget. (As of now, they’re planning to feature archival footage of Lopes rather than a three-dimensional image.)

TLC’s last new album was 2002’s 3D, released six months after Lopes’s untimely death. Though T-Boz and Chilli appeared on a UPN reality series in 2005 that was initially touted as the search for Left Eye’s replacement, they’ve been lying fairly low ever since — barring the occasional American Idol appearance or Japanese concert tour. Thanks to their strict “no scrubs” policy, TLC still ranks as the second-bestselling girl group of all time — outsold only by the Spice Girls.
