Someone left the fondue pot out in the cold!
As Taylor Swift and LL Cool J unleashed this year’s round of Grammy nominations last night, Scooter Braun — the high-profile manager that The New Yorker credited as “The Man Who Made Bieber” — was very disappointed when he learned that his prized client would go to sleep that night with zero nominations.
Braun, of course, is nothing if not outspoken, so the idea of Biebs getting bested by upstarts like Frank Ocean (who’s written songs for Bieber before) and fellow Canuck Carly Rae Jepsen (whom Bieber helped get signed to an American label deal) obvious prompted him to send out a series of mixed-t0-outraged Twitter messages.
The tweets were many, so let’s just start with the first quartet he fired off last night:
first…congrats to @carlyraejepsen . thought u deserved a best new artist nom, but proud Call Me Maybe got u 2 noms. so proud of u.
second….this time there wont be any wise words, no excuses, I just plain DISAGREE. The kid deserved it. Grammy board u blew it on this one…
Which bled into Tweet 3: Electric Boogaloo:
…this time he deserved to be recognized and I dont really have any kind nice positive things to say about a decision i dont agree with.
And then the straight-to-DVD Tweet 4: Roman Reloaded — The Re-Up:
so to all those nominated…you do deserve it. You worked hard and u earned it. Just feel like so did JB.
Sounds like he’s done, right? Oh, if only it were that easy. Braun’s fingers kept tapping out more fortune-cookie-zen transmissions, which included such notable sentences as “we get to stay the underdog a little longer,” “life is long,” and “A successful man is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at him.”
