The Strokes release new single 'One Way Trigger': Hear it here

We’re not going to lie: when we first hit play, we thought we’d accidentally clicked on the wrong song.

“One Way Trigger,” the Strokes’ first new work since 2011′s Angles, starts off with lead singer Julian Casablancas sounding … not quite like his usual self. The sly synths and jumpy guitars were there, but the falsetto had us fooled, more evocative of, say, Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke than the famously ennui-plagued Strokesman.

But by the propulsive single’s second verse, Casablancas gives himself away, and everything makes sense again: this is not only a Strokes song, but a damn good one.
