Morrissey, a famously outspoken critic of eating animals in any form, has done the near impossible. He’s gotten the Staples Center to go meatless during his upcoming concert.

The singer, who was forced to cancel several US tour dates due to illness recently, is optimistic about making it to the show in LA, where attendees will not be able to meat. The arena has agreed to close their McDonalds and will not be selling any meat-based products at any of its other eateries during the show.

“I don’t look upon it as a victory for me,” Morrissey said in a statement to CNN, “But a victory for the animals.”

A portion of the ticket sales will be going to PETA, in a further effort to promote Morrissey’s cause.

Morrissey has refused to accept his carnivorous fans before. Four years ago, he left the stage at Coachella after complaining about the smell of “burning flesh.”
