After a six year wait, a new label, and a car crash with an actress on a CW show, Josh Homme finds himself at number one for the first time.

Queens of the Stone Age’s excellent new album …Like Clockwork debuted at number one on this week’s Billboard chart, moving 91,000 copies in its opening week. It’s the first chart-topper for the band, as well as the first number one for indie label Matador, also home to indie stalwarts like Cat Power, Pavement, and Guided by Voices. (The label’s previous high on the chart was Interpol’s self-titled debut, which bowed at no. 7 in 2002.)

Interestingly, …Like Clockwork sold 12,000 of those copies via vinyl, making it the second-biggest single-week vinyl sale ever (just behind Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories, which shifted 19,000 LPs in its first frame).

It’s a rock-centric albums chart in general this week:  high-charting debuts including Flordia post-hardcore band Sleeping With Sirens’ Feel (number three, 59,000 copies sold), Megadeth’s Super Collider (number six, 29,000), and Barenaked Ladies’ Grinning Streak (number 10, 26,000).

Meanwhile, on this week’s Hot 100 there’s a new number one in town: Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” which flew up from number six to give Thicke his first taste of the catbird seat. It saw a huge spike in downloads and streams, and it puts guest star Pharrell Williams on two top five songs simultaneously (he’s also on the number three song in the country, Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky”).

Miley Cyrus didn’t crack the top 10, but her new single “We Can’t Stop” moved 214,000 downloads in its first week of release and seems to be gaining ground on radio; all that adds up to a number 11 debut on the Hot 100.
