Pop quiz time! “Take Back the Night” is:
a) an internationally held event that aims to help end sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and sexual abuse
b) the name of the foundation that oversees Take Back the Night events
c) the name, apparently, of a Justin Timberlake song
d) all of the above
(Do you need me to tell you the answer?)
So yeah — in the video below, J.Tim teases the imminent release of his next single, which is probably not an anthem for emotional college students-slash-abuse survivors. The title is … problematic, especially coupled with the few lyrics he gives us as a preview: “Take back the night/C’mon, use me up until there’s nothing left/Take back the night/Dizzy, spinning, sweating, you can’t catch your breath.”
Then again, if anyone can make this work, it’s probably Timberlake. After all, “Mirrors” is basically just eight minutes of Justin swearing that Jessica Biel is the shiniest — but dangit if we weren’t humming that song for all of February.
Ooh, maybe he’ll do a follow-up called “SlutWalk”!
