Police have reported that a 24-year-old woman has died after attending last weekend’s Coachella festival. According to the L.A. Times, the Riverside County sheriff-coroner has ruled that the cause of death for the woman, identified as Oakland resident Kimchi Truong, was an apparent drug overdose.
Coachella event promoter, Goldenvoice, released a statement on Friday expressing their condolences and adding: “We believe this to be an unfortunate but isolated incident.”
According to the statement, Truong was treated by medical staff on-site at the festival before being transported to JFK Memorial Hospital in Indio. She was then transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where she died at about 2:30 p.m., on Thursday according to Sgt. Curt James. Authorities are still waiting on the toxicology test results to determine the cause of Troung’s death and say the results will be available in about four weeks.
