They may be slow hands, but stylishly dour New York rockers Interpol have finally finished a new album, El Pintor, due Sept. 9.

It’s the band’s first release since 2010’s Interpol, and their first without longtime bassist and apparent “a–hole genius” Carlos Dengler. Frontman Paul Banks, who also plays guitar, has taken over bass duties.

Dates for a full fall tour have not yet been announced, but new material will likely be debuted this summer at a number of slated festival dates including Lollapalooza, FYF Fest, Austin City Limits, and this weekend’s Governor’s Ball in New York City.

In other aughties-indie comeback news, Spoon have returned from an indefinite hiatus and announced the release of their own first album in four years. They Want My Soul is due Aug. 5.
