Video: Robyn and Royksopp join the revolution in 'Do It Again'

When you think of frequent Scandinavian collaborators Robyn and Röyksopp, you probably imagine thumping club beats, or maybe even lighter, more ballad-like fare. Point is, you might not expect the Swedish and Norwegian team to score the music of a revolution.

But in their latest video for the single “Do It Again,” they do. In black-and-white cinematography that recalls silent film, the song follows a group of rebels storming a castle, a pair of lovers on the floor, and a woman struggling out of a hospital bed. If you saw Robyn and Röyksopp in concert on the Do It Again mini-tour, you may not anticipate this kind of seriousness from one of their pop confections, but the video does have a way of twisting the lyrics into darker forms.

Director Martin De Thurah told Dazed that, in putting “Do It Again” to film, “I worked with the idea of ‘what is our heart’s desire?’—and I realized that no one in the world truly gets to live out their passions. We are all under some construct, whether you’re an atheist living in Denmark or a gay person in Russia.”
