Jay Z's alleged mistress disses Beyonce in 'Sorry Mrs. Carter'

Liv, a rapper who tabloids like to speculate is Jay Z’s mistress, has joined the chorus of gossip magazines and anonymous sources claiming Beyoncé and Jay Z are on the rocks by releasing “Sorry Mrs. Carter,” a song disputing the allegations but still apologizing to Beyoncé. It remains somewhat unclear what exactly she’s apologizing to Beyoncé for. Not sleeping with her husband? Jay Z’s supposed bad behavior with other women? This song’s quality, maybe?

“F–k f–king to the top, me and Jay never screwed,” Liv raps before raising a (somewhat confusing) question that seems directed at Mrs. Carter-Knowles’ decisions: “You got a good girl, why she messing with a bad guy?” She samples OutKast’s “Ms. Jackson” for the chorus, breathlessly singing, “Sorry Mrs. Carter, this is for real.” But just when you think this whole song is just an apology to Beyoncé, Liv goes on the offensive. “Why don’t you tell these girls how to be wives? Why don’t tell these girls how to act around yo’ husband?”

If you somehow aren’t compelled to press “play,” here are five amusing song references Liv makes on the track—including, of course, a (disapproving) nod to the “Drunk in Love” catchphrase “serfbort.”

“The man? He likes model chicks. He likes all naturally flawless model chicks, like me.”

“Jigga man, I don’t care if you rap, you got to R-E-S-P-E-C-T.”

“You got 99 problems, I’m not tryin’ to be one.”

Girls can’t run the world fightin’ over men, all my single ladies better keep in mind when them those tables turn you gon’ be the wife.”

“You out here tellin’ them how to serfbort. Come on, now. Serfborts. Monica Lewinsky. You a married woman.”
