Rihanna gets tribal in 'Where Have You Been' video: Watch it here

Rihanna: Armed again!

After making a splash with her numerous limbs in last week’s “Princess of China” clip, RiRi returns today with a similarly arm-y new video for the Talk That Talk banger “Where Have You Been.”

In it, Rihanna takes a Beyoncé-ish approach by anchoring exotic, variously costumed dance numbers. Themes range from tribal bonfire to that unfortunate rave scene in The Matrix Reloaded, but our favorite part comes at the 3:30 mark, when Rihanna’s inner Hindu goddess comes out once again.

Check it all out in the video below, and let us know what you think down in the comments:

'Rock of Ages' soundtrack art and track listing revealed - EXCLUSIVE

rock-of-ages

Rock of Ages is one of the more unusual entries on this summer’s movie slate. The film, which hits theaters on June 15, is based on the jukebox musical of the same name that pays homage to the music of Journey, Twisted Sister, Bon Jovi, and a bevy of other ’80s-era hard rock.

On Broadway, the songs are the real stars of the show. But the film is top-lined by Tom Cruise, one of the biggest movie stars in the world. Most importantly, in the role of unpredictable rock star Stacee Jaxx, Cruise did his own singing for the movie (as did costars Catherine Zeta-Jones, Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, and Malin Akerman), which means that the soundtrack album is going to be a much-coveted collection.

The soundtrack will be available on June 5, and it will feature an incredible 20 tracks worth of hard-rocking, lighter-waving goodness, kicking off with Cruise’s take on Guns N’ Roses’ “Paradise City” and ending with an all-hands-on-deck rendition of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” that features Cruise, Baldwin, Brand, Julianne Hough, Mary J. Blige, and Diego Boneta.

Read on for the rest of the track list, revealed exclusively here at EW.com. READ FULL STORY »

The annual New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival always inspires unique pairings — Sunday, Dr. John hopped on stage with Bruce Springsteen; John Stamos jammed with the Beach Boys on Friday. In previous years, the surprises have included Trombone Shorty joining Kid Rock, and The Edge playing guitar with The Dave Matthews Band. But the festival is more than the big-name acts — it’s also about food, dance, costumes, and Louisiana culture. The annual event spans two weekends; next week the festival will be webcast live on YouTube, so you can catch the Foo Fighters, Florence + the Machine, Zac Brown Band, and more live from the comfort of your couch. As the first weekend comes to a close, photos will have to do so we’ve put together a bunch for you to enjoy. Happy JazzFest!

The Year of the Virtual Performer is officially in full swing.

Fresh of the heels of TLC’s “reunion” tour announcement, member T-Boz confirmed to Essence that the deceased Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes will indeed be represented on tour.

“I have been trying to get a hologram for years, but no one would pay for the budget,” she told Essence. Instead, the group will settle for projecting Left Eye’s likeness on a Jumbotron during shows. “Fans are happy, but it’s a reminder that she’s not here,” she says.

“With Lisa, the first three years, I don’t think I could’ve dealt with a hologram because you see how eerie it is,” she continued, adding: “When I saw the Tupac hologram, it made me feel some kind of way. I had tears in my eyes because he was my friend.”

The Wanted slam Christina Aguilera, calling her scary, rude, and 'nothing special' lookswise -- VIDEO

The Wanted performed on The Voice last Wednesday — but apparently, judge Christina Aguilera wasn’t glad they came.

Members of the British boy band recently told 92.3 NOW radio host Sarah Lee that when they met Xtina, she didn’t exactly make a good impression. In fact, according to Tom Parker, she was “a total bitch” to the group. Tell us how you really feel, Tom!

After her interviewee dropped the “b” word, Lee looked shocked. But Parker stood his ground, again calling Aguilera a bitch — and then his bandmate Siva Kaneswaran chimed in, adding that he also thought the “Beautiful” singer was “quite rude.”

So what, exactly, did Xtina do? “She might not be a bitch in real life, but to us she was a bitch,” Parker elaborated. “She just sat there and didn’t speak to us, or look at us.” And according to Nathan Sykes, she gave Justin Bieber the same frosty treatment, looking at him askance when he went in for a hug. Watch him and his mates rip into Aguilera below:

John Mayer's new 'Shadow Days' video is as American as apple pie: Watch it here

john-mayer-video

John Mayer is America, and so can you!

In the new video for his single “Shadow Days,”  hippie-cowboy heartbreaker Mayer drifts through his own private Idaho, Arizona, and other dusty locales.

As our wandering hero travels across this great land of ours in his mostly reliable Jeep Wrangler (he does have to stop to buy antifreeze at around the 2:18 mark), he makes sure to visit key scenic landscapes in order to play guitar as approving eagles soar above him.

Okay, fine, we’re kidding about the eagles part, but only barely. Check out the American prince in action in the video below:

Nicki Minaj hits the beach for 'Starships' video: Watch here

nicki-minaj-video

It’s entirely possible that Nicki Minaj’s “Starships,” the RedOne-produced single from Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, will be the anthem of the summer –so it makes sense that Minaj has worked up a beach-centric video for th etrack.

In typical Minaj fashion, “Starships” is full of bright colors, fast cuts, and lots of spastic movement meant to mirror her rap flow (which, it should be noted, is largely absent from this particular song). Perhaps the biggest headline-grabber is the fact that Minaj spends the bulk of the clip writhing around in the sand in a skimpy bikini. Watch it below. READ FULL STORY »

The Killers' saxophonist Tommy Marth commits suicide

the-killers-tommy-marth

Tommy Marth, a saxophonist who played on the Killers’ second and third albums, was found dead of an apparent suicide on Monday in his Las Vegas home. He was 33 years old.

Though he was never a permanent member of the band, Marth was a key component in the Killers’ evolution from dance-friendly indie pop group into something grander. On 2006′s Sam’s Town and 2008′s Day & Age, he helped to create sweeping, E Street Band-esque desert soundscapes, and also toured with the band for Day & Age.

The Killers began a hiatus following the Day & Age tour, though they are working on a new album that should be out before the end of the year.

“Last night we lost our friend Thomas Marth,” Killers frontman Brandon Flowers said in a statement released on Tuesday. “Our prayers are with his family. There’s a light missing in Las Vegas tonight. Travel well, Tommy.”

Check out the video below of Marth during a performance of the Killers’ “Joy Ride” (from Day & Age) at the 2009 V Festival in England. READ FULL STORY »

Rihanna gets handsy in Coldplay-free 'Princess of China' video: Watch it here

rihanna

So, who has the fairest hands of them all? We used to think it was Beyonce, but thanks to Rihanna’s new “Princess of China” video, we just don’t know anymore.

The clip is decidedly simple in its weirdness: RiRi, equipped with unwieldy gold talons, chills in front of a green screen and lets her many, many arms do the talking.

Coldplay fans will also notice that Chris Martin and company are absent not just from the video but also from the song. Though it’s taken from the  band’s Mylo Xyloto album, the edited track does away with Martin’s vocals and lets Rihanna soak up the spotlight. That’s because the clip was tailored to play behind Coldplay during their massive international tour, and, you know, Rihanna’s got things to do.

Check out the mildly trippy, Asian-influenced video below and let us know how you feel about all those arms:

On the tenth anniversary of Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes' death, TLC announces 'reunion' tour

A decade ago today, TLC rapper Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, the most volatile and outspoken member of the platinum R&B trio, passed away following a car accident in Honduras. She was 30 years old. Lopes left behind a legacy of controversy (in 1994, she famously set her NFL player boyfriend’s house on fire) and huge hits (TLC notched four number ones and sold 22 million albums in the nine years they were together).

Now TMZ is reporting that surviving members Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas are planning a reunion tour that would incorporate Left Eye into the show via archival footage. It’s not the same as Dr. Dre resurrecting Tupac for a drop-in, but it does further the idea that death need not be the end of a performer’s on-stage life.

Following Lopes’ death, Watkins and Thomas finished the group’s final album 3D without her. Though it was unclear whether or not the group would have stayed together had Left Eye survived the car crash; in a notorious statement published in the pages of Entertainment Weekly, she challenged her other two bandmates (plus producer Dallas Austin) to a showdown where the victor would be decided by album sales.

“I challenge Tionne ‘Player’ Watkins and Rozonda ‘Hater’ Thomas to an album entitled The Challenge, a 3-CD set that contains three solo albums,” she wrote. READ FULL STORY »
