Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart take on 'Cherry Bomb' for Runaways movie: Stream it here

You want your adorable I Am Sam moppet in panties and mesh thigh-highs snarling about “dead end dreams” and “stone age love”? It is your lucky day, friend.

Fanning, as Cherrie Currie, takes on the Runaways‘ delinquent-Lolita anthem “Cherry Bomb” for the upcoming biopic of the original grrl band (co-star Kristen Stewart, as Joan Jett, sings back-up). Ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-check it out, below:

It basically sounds like the original, just less awesome. True, Dakota yell-talks more than sings, but that’s hardly unlike Currie; the Runaways were about teen rebellion and general bad-assery, not melisma. And she does nail the hair.

The movie comes to theaters April 9. Will you be there, neon angels?

Gorillaz battle Bruce Willis in new shoot-'em-up 'Stylo' video

Who better than Bruce Willis, perennial big-screen badass and sometime monkey-chaser, to go all yippy ki-yay on Gorillaz in a road-rageful drag-race battle?

Live action, special effects and animation combine in the new, if-Death-Proof-was-SFW-and-had-cartoons-and-donuts clip for the Damon Albarn-fronted virtual band’s first single from the upcoming Plastic Beach, their first album since 2005′s Demon Days. Alas, no Bobby Womack cameo.

The trailer below offers a sneak preview, though the full video can only be streamed on the band’s official YouTube channel; click here to see it:

You can, of course, stream Plastic Beach in full for free at npr.org as of yesterday. The site is also hosting the James Mercer/Danger Mouse side project Broken Bells‘ debut self-titled release (here) and will roll out streams of new albums from the White Stripes, She & Him, Sharon Jones, and Sigur Ros frontman Jonsi Birgisson through the end of March. Free stuff, we salute you! And also, all simians.

Johnny Depp, Chrissie Hynde, many more on Haiti tribute, 'I Put a Spell on You': Watch the video

Step back, Babs and Beiber: In a new Haiti tribute single, Celtic rock icon (and dental legend) Shane McGowan is joined by friends like Johnny Depp, the Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde, Nick Cave, Paloma Faith, Clash guitarist Mick Jones, the Sex Pistols’ Glen Matlock, Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie, and more an all-star cover of Screamin’ Jay Hawkin’s 1956 blues torcher “I Put a Spell on You”

Pre-order the single, profits of which go directly to Concern Worldwide‘s work in Haiti, here. And tell us: as uncharitable as it may be to judge, well, efforts devoted to charity, where would you place McGowan and co.’s contribution in the recent music-for-Haiti outpouring (e.g.“We Are the World,” “Everybody Hurts,” Linkin Park’s “Not Alone”)?

Ke$ha's middle-school performance gives hope to gawky tweens

It wasn’t always tiks and blahs for one Ms. Ke$ha Sebert. Once upon a time, she was singing Radiohead’s “Karma Police” in a middle school talent show.

Say what you will about the vocals, that kid on the piano is killing it.

Jack White produces model wife's first album: Watch the new video here

Jack White can’t marry a lady, it seems, without making sweet music with her, too—literally. While the White Stripes frontman’s longtime gig with ex-wife Meg has been usurped lately by some 987 additional side projects, he recently somehow found time to produce the full-length solo debut of his current wife, British-born supermodel Karen Elson, at his own Third Man Studios in Nashville. The fruits of their spousely labor, The Ghost Who Walks, are due this summer.

Elson is not entirely new to music, having previously performed with the star-studded art-cabaret collective Citizens Band and dueted on Serge Gainsbourg’s delicious sonic-soft-porn coo “Je T’aime…Moi Non Plus” with Cat Power. And now Ghost‘s title track, a dusky, acoustic murder ballad, has its own video. Is it just us, or does this crew perambulate with spirits a lot?

What do you think? Are you eager to hear the rest come summer? And does Jack White have Matrix-like abilities to bend space and time? Maybe he just sleeps when he blinks.

“HwOOD $IgN I$ oFFiciaLLY My bIZnatCH!!!!! Good work2allmyHoTCULpritss!! LOOK AT THE SIGN LA!” wayward drunk-pop star Ke$ha twittered at 3:20 a.m. today, and soon, the above video emerged, purportedly showing the former Ms. Sebert and her girlfriends draping a bedsheet over the Hollywood Sign and relabeling it “Ke$hawood.”

U.K. twin sensation Jedward cover 'Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby)': The video—with Vanilla Ice cameo!—you didn't know you needed

Alright, stop. Collaborate and listen: Pompadoured Irish X-Factor twins + real-deal Vanilla Ice cameo = holy Friday YouTube whoa.

Eighteen-year-old identical twins John Paul Henry Daniel Richard Grimes and Edward Peter Anthony Kevin Patrick Grimes, a.k.a. Jedward, are a dancing, singing, follicularly dazzling phenomenon sprung from Simon Cowell’s Idol-esque U.K. singing competition (it crowned Leona Lewis in 2006).

They didn’t win, but that hardly seems to matter; judging by the pageviews their David Bowie/Vanilla Ice mash-up “Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby)” in its scant few days on the internet, they’ve already won a different kind of prize.

Watch them below, enacting what one EW coworker describes as “Vanilla Ice plus Nelson plus MC Hammer plus Puff Daddy (the original) minus David Bowie times a bag of s— on fire,” and be amazed:

Hear Simon Cowell's Haiti benefit single, 'Everybody Hurts': Miley, Mariah, Susan Boyle, and more sing the R.E.M. classic

He may kill dreams weekly on Idol, but there is a good heart beating beneath the grinch-y proclamations and shrink-wrapped black t-shirts of Mr. Simon Cowell.

The man used his bi-contintental power to gather an all-star cast on “Everybody Hurts,” a largely faithful cover of R.E.M.’s beloved 1993 ballad. Among the stars who appear below: Leona Lewis, Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus, Jon Bon Jovi, Rod Stewart, Kylie Minogue, Mika, Michael Buble, James Blunt and several names that will probably resonate much more with readers whose wallets are full of Euros, not dollars (Gary Barlow, Cheryl Cole, Westlife):

Either way, you can still give in the spirit of the cause to Cowell’s designated charity here, or to any number of respected institutions. In the meantime, tell us which of the current charity projects—including the A-list overflow “We Are the World,” various live benefits and Dave Matthews’ new EP—you’re most enjoying; not just for the do-goodery, but for their own sake.
