Beyonce debuts music video for '1+1': Watch it here

Beyoncé first debuted “1+1″  on the season finale of American Idol back in May, and it, of course, appeared on her recent album 4. But now the pop diva has dropped a music video for the love vocals-focused love ballad.

Unlike the heavily produced spectacles Beyoncé often does, the video for “1+1″ is simple, much like the song itself: Beyoncé appears alone for the most of the clip, sometimes glittery, sometimes with water cascading all over her body. But she’s always: dramatic! And often with her hair blowing everywhere. (Those wind machines should get a cut of her profits.) But of course, this is Lady B we’re talking about, so that’s all standard. Would you expect anything else? The whole thing may be rather simple, but it’s hard to take your eyes off it.

Take a gander at the music video here:

On the heels of her four dazzling concerts last week at New York City’s Roseland Ballroom, MTV has just announced the Beyoncé will perform at their 2011 Video Music Awards this Sunday.

She’s a late addition to the roster, which includes Lady Gaga, Adele, Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, and Pitbull—though the show will not, as announced today, have a host.

“We are thrilled to have Beyoncé return to her rightful musical home at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards,” said Amy Doyle, executive producer of the VMAs and MTV’s EVP of Music & Talent, in a statement. “Her performances at the VMAs are legendary — leaving everyone breathless and talking for days. We can’t wait to see her set the stage on fire once again!”

She is nominated for three Moonmen this year including Best Female Video, Best Choreography and Best Cinematography, Though they did not reveal what song she’ll sing, we can’t wait either. It’s been two years since Beyoncé killed it on that stage with her monumental smash “Single Ladies.”

Are you looking forward to her set? Let us know.

Jay-Z says wife Beyonce is 'the second coming' of Michael Jackson: Yes, he knows it's blasphemy

His comments should probably be taken with a grain of salt, considering he’s the lady’s husband, but Jay-Z recently bestowed Beyoncé with a heavy compliment.

During an interview with Miami radio station 99 Jamz, Jay compared his wife’s work ethic to that of late pop icon Michael Jackson. Then he took it a step further, saying she’s the closest thing we’ve got to MJ now.

“What I’ve learned from her is the same thing I learned from Mike,” Jay said after being asked what Beyoncé’s taught him.  “And I know it’s blasphemy to compare the two because Mike was such an innovator. But I think she’s like the second coming. The hard work and the dedication that she puts into her shows… It just makes you want to work harder at your craft. She’s like a machine.”

Before you just go on and dismiss Jay completely, know that he’s more than just a loving husband; he is of course a major artist himself, one who even collaborated Jackson years ago.

Beyonce performs first of four-night run of her new '4' album at small NYC theater -- an EW review

Only Beyoncé can call performing to a sold-out audience of 3,500 an “intimate affair” with a straight face.

If there’s anything to be learned from the R&B pop talent’s magnificent set last night at New York City’s Roseland Ballroom for her 4 Intimate Nights With Beyoncé run, it’s that Beyoncé’s bigger than any ballroom.

Queen B’s manic swarm of fans attacked the venue early, shoving and jostling through Roseland’s severely undermanned entrance, then rammed their way up to prime viewing real estate in the standing-room-only floor setup. Clear-eyed and swift, none seemed under the influence of a controlled substance. But obviously, they were high on excitement.

Just after 10pm, Beyoncé’s band arrived. For this evening, the first of four in the mini-series concluding Aug. 19 (All dates are sold out; sorry, guys), she brought along not just a drummer, keyboarder, and guitarist, but also a horn section and an orchestra—all women, cramped up on stage like an extremely concentrated dose of musical girl power.

Then came the lady of the hour. In a shimmering gold dress, Beyoncé opened with a refresher course of how a young lady from Houston, Texas, became a pop icon. Similar to her 2009 stint in Las Vegas (I Am… Yours) at the Wynn, the show began with a performance of the Jackson 5’s “I Wanna Be Where You Are,” which was followed by an audio autobiography of sorts.

Beyonce performs 'Best Thing I Never Had' on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, song writer releases original version

As we announced earlier this week, Beyoncé hit the Late Night stage yesterday to perform her latest single, “Best Thing I Never Had.”

The diva, dressed in white and backed by house band The Roots, flipped the track three ways—first performing it as heard in its piano-driven album version, then funked up a bit for the second verse, before closing out in jazzy fashion on the bridge.

Beyoncé’s vocals, as always, were flawless. Check out her performance with on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon here:

Beyonce set to perform on 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon' this Thursday -- EXCLUSIVE

Jimmy Fallon‘s adding a heavy dose of girl power to his Late Night show this Thursday: Beyoncé.

On July 28 Queen B, who’s out promoting her latest album 4, will hit the stage to sing “Best Thing I Never Had,” and she’ll be backed by Jimmy house band The Roots.

It’s a great booking for both Jimmy and Beyoncé. Fallon shows he can roll with the Lenos and Lettermans when it comes to booking top-tier talent, And Bey shows that Oprah farewells and major award shows aren’t the only things she’ll get out of bed for.

I’m looking forward to seeing what she brings to Fallon; will she crank things up like she did at the 2011 Billboard Awards? Or take it down a few notches and do something a bit more intimate? Will Questlove get a slow dance? We’ll see.

Excited for Thursday night’s show? Let us know.

Beyonce's dad Matthew Knowles speaks out about stolen-funds controversy: 'All dollars will be accounted for.'

On Monday, Beyoncé’s father and former manager Matthew Knowles filed documents in a Texas court revealing that he was dismissed as his daughter’s manager after an audit by concert mega-promoter Live Nation showed that he had allegedly stolen funds from her. Now, Knowles has given an interview to the Associated Press about the dust-up and the status of his relationship with his daughter Beyoncé.

Knowles began with a denial of any wrongdoing. “We absolutely have not taken any money from Beyoncé, and all dollars will be accounted for,” he told the AP on Thursday afternoon. “In no way have we stole money. Again, this about the people who have made these claims — they have to come into the light.”  READ FULL STORY »

Beyonce's professional split with her dad sparked by stolen funds? Matthew Knowles takes those claims to court

Beyoncé and her father/longtime manager Matthew Knowles parted ways professionally in a seemingly amicable way back in March.

But now some odd details of the split are coming to light: Yesterday, Knowles filed papers in a Houston court claiming that Live Nation—the massive concert conglomerate behind Beyoncé’s past tours—erroneously fingered him for stealing money from his daughter, which eventually led to his ousting as her manager.

According to the documents, which EW has obtained, Knowles claims the touring company made “false statements” to Beyoncé that he had pilfered funds while he was her manager. That led to an October 2010 audit conducted by Beyoncé’s legal team, and his subsequent firing.

Knowles claims he didn’t steal anything and has asked to depose Live Nation employees about how they came to their conclusions in the audit.

A spokesperson for Live Nation had no comment on the matter, and representatives for Beyoncé have yet to return requests from EW.

Former Destiny's Child member Michelle Williams releases new single 'Love Gun': Listen here

The three former members of Destiny’s Child are keeping busy these days.

Beyoncé just topped the Billboard 200 with her latest release 4; Kelly Rowland has been doing well with the release of her single “Motivation,” featuring Lil Wayne; and today, Michelle Williams dropped a new single,”Love Gun,” which is set to be included on her upcoming fourth studio album, slated for a fall release.

While Williams focused on gospel on her first two solo albums, the synth-laden “Love Gun” has a similar vibe to the dancey tracks on her last album, Unexpected, which spawned two hit dance singles in “We Break the Dawn”—actually, a personal fave of mine—and “The Greatest.”

Williams calls “Love Gun” “inspirational pop.” “Think of Katy Perry’s ‘Firework’ or Natasha Bedingfield’s ‘Unwritten,’” she said in a statement. “Music with a message but at the same time fun and will get people dancing.”

Give “Love Gun” a listen here:
