Guitarist Richie Sambora will not be performing with Bon Jovi during the current leg of the band’s Because We Can tour.

The band, on its website, cited “personal issues.” The band says all shows will go on as scheduled. No other information was given.

Hours before the announcement late Tuesday, Sambora tweeted that he was “Watching more of the ‘Every Road Leads Home To You’ cover videos.” That was a reference to a fan contest promoting a song on his solo album, Aftermath of the Lowdown.

The 53-year-old has struggled with substance abuse and has done several stints in rehab.

Bon Jovi is slated to perform in Edmonton, Canada, on Wednesday and the current leg of the tour is scheduled to end April 25 in San Jose, Calif.

Bon Jovi tops albums chart, David Bowie takes second place on Billboard 200

“Where are we now?” David Bowie asked on his new album. According to the charts, the answer is “right behind Jon Bon Jovi.”

The New Jersey rockers’ What About Now has won the week in album sales, making it the group’s third straight album (and fifth overall) to top the Billboard 200. The record sold 101,000 in its debut week, Nielsen SoundScan reports. This marks Bon Jovi’s 12th trip to that chart’s top ten.

This leaves David Bowie’s much-heralded comeback album The Next Day – hist first since 2003′s Reality – to come in at No. 2, with 85,000 units moved. The upside, though, is that that number is Bowie’s best sales week since the SoundScan era began in 1991.

Last week’s champ, Luke Bryan’s Spring Break… Here to Party, fell to No. 3, experiencing a 59% decline with 61,000 in sales. The chart’s next spot, however, was here to pray, not party: the Christian album Passion: Let the Future Begin bowed at No. 4, with 48,000 in sales.

Rounding out the top five was Bruno Mars, whose sophomore effort Unorthodox Jukebox dropped from No. 3 to No. 5, with 43,000 in sales. That’s a 17% drop from the previous week, but still enough to beat out Mindless Behavior’s All Around the World, which debuted this week at No. 6.

Drug charges dropped against Jon Bon Jovi's daughter

Drug charges against Jon Bon Jovi’s 19-year-old daughter have been dropped, a central New York prosecutor said Thursday.

Stephanie Bongiovi was found unresponsive by medics after she apparently overdosed on heroin in a Hamilton College dorm early Wednesday. Town of Kirkland police charged Bongiovi, of Red Bank, N.J., and fellow student Ian Grant, also of Red Bank, with possession of a small amount of heroin and marijuana.

Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara said he was dismissing the charges against both students. Under state law, someone having a drug overdose or seeking help for an overdose victim can’t be prosecuted for having a small amount of heroin or any amount of marijuana. READ FULL STORY »

Jon Bon Jovi death-hoax starter says he did it because he was 'irritated' at JBJ's lack of musical focus, admits he was wrong

On December 19, the Internet was set ablaze with shocking news: Rocker, actor, philanthropist, and arena-football enthusiast Jon Bon Jovi had suddenly died! What began as a suggestion on Twitter quickly escalated into a huge story, as reporters and well-wishers gathered around the hospital where Bon Jovi had supposedly lost his grip on life.

But just as quickly, the news was outed as a hoax, and Bon Jovi himself cheekily posted a new photograph of himself on Facebook, very much alive, holding a sign that read, “Heaven looks an awful lot like New Jersey.”

Now the originator of the hoax is facing a tremendous backlash from fans. In a conversation with the Asbury Park Press, Jeffery Goho noted that he tweeted about Bon Jovi’s death out of frustration that the singer had spent so much time away from the band pursuing other interests. READ FULL STORY »

Jon Bon Jovi: Dead... or alive? (Hint: It was a hoax)

Reports of his death have been greatly exaggerated. Yesterday, 49-year-old rocker Jon Bon Jovi was the latest casualty of Internet rumors claiming he had died of a massive heart attack. Before fans could indulge in too much gnashing of teeth or plan an epic 21-can Aquanet salute synced to “Blaze of Glory,” Bon Jovi himself took to Facebook and Twitter to set the record straight with a cheeky pic (right) of himself holding a sign that read “Heaven looks a lot like New Jersey Dec. 19, 2011 6:00.” READ FULL STORY »

Jon Bon Jovi's charity restaurant opens in New Jersey

Tags: , News

In three decades as one of the world’s biggest rock stars, Jon Bon Jovi has eaten in some of the world’s best restaurants, savoring the best food the planet has to offer.

Yet there’s no place he’d rather have dinner than The Soul Kitchen, a “pay-what-you-can” restaurant he and his wife Dorothea established in a former auto body shop near the Red Bank train station in central New Jersey.

The restaurant provides gourmet-quality meals to the hungry while enabling them to volunteer on community projects in return without the stigma of visiting a soup kitchen. Paying customers are encouraged to leave whatever they want in the envelopes on each table, where the menus never list a price.

The restaurant is the latest undertaking by the New Jersey rocker’s Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation, which has built 260 homes for low-income residents in recent years. READ FULL STORY »

As expected, Gaga was golden when Forbes released its 2011 World’s Highest-Paid Musicians List this past Wednesday. Yet, despite banking $90 million, Gaga found on herself on “The Edge of Glory” as she landed in fourth place. She probably could have secured a higher position if she had been more conservative in spending for her stage show. Then again, girl loves a concept costume and a flaming piano… Plus, the words “Gaga” and “conservative” really should never inhabit the same sentence, right?

So who scored the top slot? READ FULL STORY »
