Chris Brown allegedly in altercation with Frank Ocean

Grammy-winning singer Chris Brown is under investigation for an alleged assault in a West Hollywood parking lot, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said early Monday.

Deputies responding to a report of six men fighting Sunday night found the scene clear, but were told by witnesses that there had been a brief fight over a parking space.

“The altercation allegedly led to Chris Brown punching the victim,” the department said in a statement released early Monday morning.

The “victim” wasn’t identified but the celebrity website TMZ – which first reported the fight outside the Westlake Recording Studio – said it also involved Frank Ocean, one of the top nominees at Grammy Awards next month.

In a Twitter posting later, Ocean said he “got jumped by (Brown) and a couple guys” and suffered a finger cut.

From “dope” to “nope.”

After Rihanna hit up Watch What Happens Live to tell Andy Cohen her thoughts on ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, the man himself took to L.A. radio station Power 106 to clarify their purportedly rekindled relationship. “No,” Breezy told host Big Boy when asked whether he and RiRi have romantically reunited. “And that’s just a quick answer.”

Rihanna on Chris Brown: 'He's pretty dope'

Rihanna gets interviewed by Bravo’s Andy Cohen on Facebook Live!

Are Chris Brown and Rihanna together, or aren’t they?

Andy Cohen, host of Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, finally got an official answer to that question when he interviewed Rihanna today on Facebook through the site’s Facebook Live! streaming series.

Cohen was playing his signature word association game, “Spill the Tea,” with Ri Ri, calling out pop stars and asking her for the first word that comes to mind. After name-checking Kanye West (“genius”), Jay-Z (“even more genius”), Beyoncé (“gorgeous — a stab to my self-esteem”), Nicki Minaj (“ass”), and Eminem (“he’s the s—t”), Cohen brought up Chris Brown. “He’s pretty dope, too,” Rihanna said, laughing. “He’s kinda alright.” But when Cohen asked if the two were seeing each other, Rihanna said no, although she kept smiling.

Rihanna tweets 'Unapologetic' tracklist, including Chris Brown duet

Rihanna

As if it wasn’t already stormy enough out there, Rihanna looks ready to make things even more Breezy.

After finishing up work in the studio for new upcoming Unapologetic, RiRi used old-school social media — ink on a bar napkin — to write out the Nov. 16 album’s tracklist, and then sent out an image of the whole thing to her Twitter followers.

The songs that made the cut look more or less how you might expect them to — titles like “No Love Allowed” and “Love Without Tragedy.” But it’s the duets that are making people talk that talk — particularly one with Chris Brown. We don’t yet know what the song’s about, of course, but it’s titled “Nobodies Business,” which could be a misspelling of “Nobody’s Business” — as in butt out of their rumored rekindled relationship. Or, perhaps more likely, it could be a play on the phrase, and the song’s about an industry — the media, maybe? — that they think is full of nobodies.

Elsewhere on the album is a cred-boosting collab with rising rapper Future and a sure-to-be buzzy song with Eminem titled “Numb.”

Check out the full playlist (as per Rihanna’s note, at least) below and let us know what you think in the comments:

Rihanna talks Chris Brown and Robert Pattinson in new 'Vogue'

Rihanna’s landed the cover of the new issue of Vogue, and, yes, the she does explain her scandalous relationship with a certain you-know-who: Robert Pattinson.

Oh, sorry, that’s probably not who you had in mind, but as the cover story explains, recent tabloid reports had some wondering whether RiRi and R-Patz were getting flirty via text message. When told about this, Rihanna apparently “expressed horror and pronounced it ‘the most bullsh-t ever,’ but she also seemed amused.”

Speaking of horrors: Chris Brown came up a few times over the course of the story as well. First off, Rihanna explains that she is indeed single and hasn’t been on a date in two years. (She says “no one asks.”) With that out of the way, she also confirms that she and Brown still share a friendly relationship — and that she doesn’t care what the public thinks of it. Chris Brown explains Rihanna situation: 'I'm not trying to be a dog'

In the ancient Greek myth about Prometheus, the trickster Titan steals fire from the gods of Olympus to deliver to humankind. As punishment, Zeus chains the immortal Prometheus to a rock and compels a bird of prey (sometimes an eagle, other times a vulture) to eat his liver, which always grows back the next day. It’s a vision of eternal torment, just like Sisyphus pushing a boulder endlessly up a hill or George Orwell’s immortal image of a boot stomping on a face for all eternity.

We are all Prometheus, and Chris Brown is the liver that keeps growing back. READ FULL STORY »

Chris Brown back in court, probation under review

A judge has ordered a further review of Chris Brown’s community service and travel to determine whether the R&B singer has violated the terms of his probation for the 2009 beating of then-girlfriend Rihanna.

Brown appeared in court Monday for the first time in more than a year, and Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg tried to sort through Brown’s probation record and the impact of a positive marijuana result during a random drug screening. Schnegg said community service logs from Brown’s home state of Virginia were “somewhat cryptic” and additional review was needed to determine whether he had complied with his probation. Can we please stop being shocked by Chris Brown now?

chris-brown

This week, social media lightning rod and occasional recording artist Chris Brown found himself at the center of another controversy. This time around, it was speculation that his new neck tattoo was some sort of sociopathic nod to Rihanna because the image depicted a woman’s face that may or may not resemble the infamous police photo of his onetime girlfriend’s bruised and battered face that was leaked following his 2009 assault on her.

Brown’s rep was quick to step in and deny the connection, releasing a statement that said, “His tattoo is a sugar skull and a MAC cosmetics design he saw. It is not Rihanna or an abused woman as erroneously reported.” Brown himself wrote on Twitter, “I am an artist and this is art.” (Though not, as far as we can tell, the kind of art that at all resembles the Mexican Day of the Dead skulls his rep speaks of.)

Yes, we’re writing about him here once again. But people of the Internet, I implore you: Can we please stop being shocked every time Brown does something insensitive? READ FULL STORY »
