Dave Matthews hitchhikes to his own concert

Dave Matthews may jet to performances around the world, but that doesn’t mean his bicycle never breaks down.

That’s what happened before the singer’s show in Hershey, Pa., on Saturday when one of his fans pulled over to give a stranded cyclist a ride and realized the hitchhiker was none other than Matthews, who didn’t have a cellphone on him.

Emily Kraus told WHP-TV in Harrisburg, Pa., that that she and her boyfriend helped Matthews stow his bicycle on their bike rack and he got in their car for the rest of the ride.

“We didn’t know how to make conversation with him, in fact, so we were talking about his tour and where he had come from,” Kraus said. “He had just been in Cincinnati and he said, ‘I’m taking a short break after this one because I have to drop my daughters off at camp.’ … He was just a very humble guy.”

Vampire Weekend, The Walkmen, Dirty Projectors and more to play Hurricane Sandy benefit concert in Brooklyn

Musicians just can’t give their money to Hurricane Sandy victims fast enough.

Numerous benefit concerts have already taken place; earlier today, Dave Matthews pledged $1 million in aid; now a bevy of indie stars are joining forces in Brooklyn to help those ravaged by the storm.

This Saturday, Nov. 17, Vampire Weekend, Real Estate, members of the Walkmen and Dirty Projectors, and others will perform acoustic sets at St. Ann & The Holy Trinity, an Episcopal church in Brooklyn Heights, with all proceeds going to Occupy Sandy. There’s no set ticket price, but the organization suggests a minimum donation of $30.

Dave Matthews, Neil Young, Willie Nelson, and more to play Farm Aid 2012

The details for this year’s Farm Aid concert have been announced, and as always, it involves Dave Matthews.

Matthews, who’s also one of the charity’s board members, will be performing at the benefit, slated to take place Sept. 22 in Hershey, Pa. He’ll be joined this year by John Mellencamp,¬†Willie Nelson, Neil Young, Jack Johnson,¬†ALO, Pegi Young and the Survivors, and Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real. READ FULL STORY
