Katy Perry's 'E.T.' video feat. Kanye West: Watch the bizarro sci-fi fest here!

Post-apocalyptic landscape, Kanye West floating in zero gravity, the kiss of a woman turning a robot into flesh-and-blood… it can only mean one thing: Katy Perry is officially in orbit for her “E.T.” music video.

This spacey, robotic jam might not have been an album highlight, but thanks to Kanye West’s verses concerning his commitment to alien sex, the song is currently a number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as fodder for this awesomely bizzare sci-fi video, which impressively resists any obvious Spielberg references. Kanye West's G.O.O.D. talent Big Sean celebrates his journey in 'My Last' video: Watch here

A debut release from G.O.O.D. music artist Big Sean has been in the making for a while now. But almost four years after Kanye West announced that he’d signed the witty Detroit lyricist, it seems like Sean’s Finally Famous album is ready to go.

Weeks ago we proudly threw the first official single, inspirational cut “My Last,” on our Must List. And last night he released its partnering video.

In this New Edition-sampling cut, Sean rewinds to when he was a newly signed artist, likely assuming success was just inches away. Obviously, it took a lot longer to build his buzz and progress the way he has. Leaping to present day, his clothes are fly-er and jewelry brighter. He appreciates his journey to, well, not necessarily the top, but he’s glad to be in a position where he can enjoy the fruits of his labor—partying and spending because he deserves it all: READ FULL STORY »

Kanye West at SXSW: Jay-Z, John Legend, Kid Cudi and more join all-star festival closeout

Maybe it’s true that no one man should have all that power. Or maybe Kanye West just needed his own power station—specifically, the city’s long-dormant nuclear-era Seaholm Power Plant—to host his bold-faced SXSW festival blowout on Saturday night.

The free show, announced via high-production-values promo video by sponsor Vevo only days before, attracted scads of hopefuls livin’ in the 21st century and very much hoping to do something mean to it. Though for nearly two agitated hours, the only aspirants allowed entry were the already-famous: a leather-jacketed Diddy (with three-car convoy), tennis star Andy Roddick and his swimsuit model/actress wife Brooklyn Decker (“YEAH, PETE SAMPRAS!” yelled one witty lineholder), and other assorted sunglasses-at-night types who rolled up in SUVs with full security details, not on foot or via ubiquitous pedicab. Kanye West, Cee-Lo, TV on the Radio and more to perform this week at SXSW

If you think Austin, Texas’ South by Southwest festival is only a showcase for new talent, think again.

This year’s music portion, beginning Wednesday, March 16, features several heavyweights, including TV on the Radio, the Strokes, Cee-Lo Green, emerging hip-hop collective Odd Future, Erykah Badu, and Lupe Fiasco. But one star on the week’s lineup is being touted as the can’t miss act: Kanye West. The polarizing rhymer is set to hit the Vevo PowerStation, Saturday March 19. This won’t be the first time West performs there; in 2009, he and his G.O.O.D. Music acts Mr. Hudson and Big Sean rocked the Fader Fort.

Check out the video promo for West’s show this Saturday after the jump.

Kanye West sparks controversy with tweet about abortion

kanye-westImage Credit: Joe Kohen/WireImage.comNothing is off-limits on Kanye West’s infamously scatterbrained Twitter feed, where the rapper has opined on everything from the genius of Leonard Bernstein to the difficulty of sleeping on fur pillows.

But the scandal-prone pop star may have a fresh controversy on his hands thanks to a recent tweet about the hot-button topic of abortion. Warning: West’s opinions and language may be offensive to some readers, so continue reading at your own discretion. READ FULL STORY »

Kanye West's 'All of the Lights' video is bright and angry: Watch here

The video for the most grandiose record on Kanye West‘s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, “All of the Lights,” finally dropped this weekend.

The Hype Williams-directed, Gaspar Noé-inspired clip features a light show that might require viewing with sunglasses. In it, West plays a father who abuses his daughter’s mother, and when he returns from jail he fights the new man in her life (and bed). Now his daughter is walking around fatherless, while West laments life’s stresses atop cop cars.

It’s a wild storyline, I know. But somehow it works. The track itself features several notable vocal talents (Fergie, Alicia Keys, Elton John) but Kanye only pulled in Rihanna, who sings the hook and Kid Cudi, who handles the bridge, for the visual.

Check out the video after the jump.

Kanye West abducts Katy Perry on singer's new single, 'E.T'

kanye-perryImage Credit: Gilbert Carrasquillo/FilmMagic.com; Glenn Harris/PR PhotosKanye West might be known for his artistic talent (and inflated sense of self). But today he is literally out of this world. And Katy Perry‘s wants him. This morning the remix to the pop songstress’ “E.T.” hit the internet. As soon as Kanye’s spaceship hovers into Katy’s life, she hopes to be the only one he abducts.

Kanye refuses at first, saying his is a life crazier than she can imagine. “Welcome to the danger zone,” he raps. “Step into the fantasy/ You are not invited to the the other side of sanit.y” Katy won’t take no for an answer, though:  “[I] Wanna be your victim/ [I'm] Ready for abduction,” she coos on the hook. And of course, Kanye gives in (who wouldn’t?), promising they’ll hit “a bar out in Mars.” Then he’ll “disrobe” and “probe” her. Intense stuff, right?

kanye-cee-loImage Credit: Chris Hatcher/PR Photos; Landmark/PR PhotosRemember 2010?
