Music docs: they’re so hot right now! Perhaps that’s why Lady Gaga gave all her Little Monsters a very special Christmas present yesterday by announcing that her “Cake” collaborator Terry Richardson is making a film documenting Gaga’s life, as well as “the creation of ARTPOP” — Gaga’s upcoming album — and the artist’s devoted fanbase.

Call it the Super Bowl bump?
Billboard has announced the list of the 2012’s top-grossing tours, and it looks like Madonna is at the top. Her Madgesty sold out all 72 of the shows she played this year, grossing a grand total of $228,406,085 over the year. Interestingly, her new album MDNA only landed at No. 44 on the year-end Billboard 200 chart, moving 521,000 units in the U.S. as of December.
After Madonna on the top-grossing tours list is Bruce Springsteen, whose raked in just shy $200 million this year with his Wrecking Ball tour. (He did, however, beat Madonna in overall attendance by about 500,000 people. Like Madonna, he also played 72 shows.) Roger Waters came in third with roughly $186 million (and nearly 50,000 more in attendance than Madge). Michael Jackson The Immortal World Tour by Cirque Du Soleil came in fourth place with about $147 million for the year, which just edged No. 5 Coldplay by roughly $100,000.
Jack White slams Lady Gaga in Esquire UK: 'All image with no meaning' -- UPDATE: White clarifies his comments in a formal statement
In a move that will surprise approximately no one, rock messiah Jack White has expressed his distaste for Lady Gaga. The former White Stripes frontman told Esquire UK, “I don’t think she lives it because it’s all artifice.”
He added, “It’s all image with no meaning behind it. You can’t sink your teeth into it. It’s a sound bite. It’s very of this age, because that’s what people want. They want a Twitter line, a jpeg, an MP3.” READ FULL STORY
Whatever foods you plan on gorging on this week, it’s got nothing on what Lady Gaga’s been getting into.
Mother Monster has released yet another teaser clip for her upcoming, Terry Richardson-shot “Cake” video, and this one’s even wilder than the last. Stripped down to her skivvies, Gaga hits the floor and wallows in a large mess of cake, suggestively licking and grinding into the innocent frosting. And like the previous teaser, it features a quick shot of the star getting jiggy with it in a hot tub.
Take a look at the vaguely NSFW (or not safe for your parent’s house, if that’s the case) teaser in the video below:
As a wise woman named Rihanna once said, “Cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake.”
The new clip shows Gaga in a state of undress pretty common among Richardson subjects — underwear-clad, in heels, and momentarily in a bathtub. The singer, whose album ARTPOP is expected to hit streets sometime next year, shows off some of her new dance moves and rap skills for the clip, which her YouTube pages says was shot in São Paolo, Brazil.
Check it out in the clip below:
Lady Gaga is donating $1 million to the Red Cross to aid those affected by Superstorm Sandy.
The New York-born singer posted on her blog Wednesday that she is pledging the money on behalf of her parents and sister. She also said she “would not be the woman or artist that I am today” if it weren’t for places like the Lower Eastside, Harlem, the Bronx and Brooklyn.
She writes: “Thank you for helping me build my spirit. I will now help you rebuild yours.”
Superstorm Sandy made landfall more than a week ago, killing many of its more than 100 victims in New York City and New Jersey and leaving millions without power.
Lady Gaga added that New York is a place full of “relentless ambition.”
Tony Bennett might be the most active 86-year-old you know.
The iconic singer has enjoyed an enviable career spanning 60 years (and counting), and lately he’s become renowned for his many duets and collaborative endeavors. And now Bennett’s set to release an introspective documentary that’ll shed light on his many artistic ambitions.
Conceived and produced by his son Danny Bennett, The Zen of Bennett tales a closer look into Tony’s life as he turned 85, as well as his continued presence in show business via the countless number of contemporary artists he’s worked with in recent years. The movie will hit screens in New York tomorrow and other select theaters Nov. 2, but you can enjoy an exclusive sneak peek right now exclusively below. Then read on to find out about Bennett’s wish-list duets, his unique chemistry with Lady Gaga, and the tragedy of Amy Winehouse.
Lady Gaga and South African crime-stoppers Die Antwoord have started feuding back and forth on Twitter, leading to some of the strangest insults we’ve seen this side of “fairground stripper.” It all started when Gaga asked Die Antwoord to open for her on her tour, an offer they declined. Then, the South African group premiered their wild “Fatty Boom Boom” video last Tuesday. The clip, like most of the group’s work, is outré (at least for American sensibilities), featuring colorful crotch-grabbing, naughty hyenas, prawn-birthing, and some demented LaChappellian krumpiness.
All that’s classic Die Antwoord, but what really got Gaga’s goat was seeing an impersonator aping Mother Monster herself. The actor, easily identifiable as a Lady Gaga stand-in, is featured acting afool in a number of unflattering scenes, including one in which she gives birth to a prawn. Because, you know, she’s a “prawn star.”
Baz Luhrmann’s blinged-out retelling of The Great Gatsby was going to be this year’s big Christmas movie until it got bumped into next year. But that might be for the best — since it’s apparently given the filmmaker plenty of time to nail down some major crazy names for the soundtrack.
According to actress Adelaide Clemens, there will be contributions from both Lady Gaga and Prince. “They have some new music that’s going to be added to the film,” Clemens told Indiewire during press rounds for her forthcoming movie Silent Hill Revelation 3D. “Some pretty huge artists have approached Baz and are writing songs for the film, and I don’t think Warner Bros. are going to turn down Prince and Lady Gaga knocking down your door. I don’t know if I’m allowed to say that.” READ FULL STORY
In Lady Gaga’s attempt to saturate every possible form of media, it seems she’s now released a rap song. Sort of.
Yesterday her producer, DJ White Shadow, announced on Twitter that he’d made some “TRAP s—” and invited followers to rap over the beat, Spin reports. The best one, he said, would get posted, with “extra bonus points for whoever writes a song about @ladygaga.”
People had a few hours to respond with their submissions before White Shadow dropped this nugget: “In an unusual twist of fate, the winner has asked not to be announced!” Intrigue! The winning track, called “Cake,” features chopped-and-screwed vocals spitting variations on swag, money, and more swag. (Also: baked goods.) Listen below:
