The 16-year-old New Zealander’s left-field hit “Royals” is maintaining its presence in the Top 10, her stellar debut Pure Heroine hits the U.S. this week, and last night she put on a mini-set on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, her first American TV appearance .

She performed “Royals” first, and then treated the crowd to a special bonus performance, of “White Teeth Teens.” You can watch both below:

Fred Armisen and ?uestlove have a drum-off on 'Fallon' - VIDEO

Saturday Night Live‘s Fred Armisen famously costars with indie-rock luminary Carrie Brownstein (ex member of riot girl icons Sleater-Kinney and current guitiarist in Wild Flag) on Portlandia, which returns to IFC this Friday, but he famously has his own indie-rock bona fides, which he showed off last night on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.

Armisen has actually demonstrated off his drumming skills in the past, and on Fallon, he went toe-to-toe hitting skins with the show’s bandleader Ahmir “?uestlove” Thompson.

Armisen held his own against the imposing Root —check it out for yourself below.  READ FULL STORY

Jimmy Fallon, Mariah Carey, The Roots, a bunch of awesome little kids sing 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' -- VIDEO

Give those Pandora and Spotify holiday playlists a break and turn to Jimmy Fallon, Mariah Carey, and The Roots for your morning cup of (non-alcoholic! or not) cheer.

With classroom musical instruments and holiday sweaters in tow, a glamorously gown-clad Carey (you didn’t think she’d seriously wear a sweater, did you?) joined the gang for a playful rendition of “All I Want for Christmas Is You” yesterday on Late Night.

Sure, the performance doesn’t hold a candle to this summer’s “Call Me Maybe” singalong, but the adorable children singing background and Carey’s breathy high notes make the video irresistible. I don’t know about you, but I’m taking a chug of eggnog anytime Carey sings that song on national television. Mariah early Christmas, everyone!

The Roots sing special doo-wop song for Alec Baldwin on 'Fallon': Watch it here

Ladies and gentlemen, meet Late Night With Jimmy Fallon audience member Alex Baldwin!

Oh, oops — as he told Fallon, it’s “Alec, with a C.” And apparently this totally random member of Late Night‘s live studio audience also has a habit of appearing on some NBC show called 30 Rock?

To help Alec With a C promote the Tina Fey sitcom’s final season, Fallon’s house band the Roots played a custom-tailored doo-wop ditty while Baldwin and his host swayed along. As NBC warns, “This ain’t your grandaddy’s Beach Boys.”

Check it out in the video below:

James Murphy visits Jimmy Fallon, reminds us he could've been a 'Seinfeld' writer: Watch it here

The upcoming documentary Shut Up and Play the Hits focuses on LCD Soundsystem’s last days, but DFA ringleader James Murphy has an equally compelling origin story that includes a job offer in one of comedy’s finest writers rooms. (Hint: it rhymes if Feinseld. Also, it’s in the headline.) Watch the video below to see him discuss that and other tribulations on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon:

Def Jam: Early release of Frank Ocean's 'Channel Orange' part of original marketing plan

Odd Future fans who had July 17 marked on their calendars got a pleasant surprise late last night.

Not only did sudden headline-maker Frank Ocean make his television debut on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, but there was also a surprise announcement: the hotly anticipated Channel Orange would be streaming online for the next 24 hours on Ocean’s Tumblr, as well as for sale on iTunes. The album, which fans thought wouldn’t be available until next Tuesday, became the No. 1 album on iTunes within the hour.

And according to Def Jam, that was all part of Channel Orange‘s unusual marketing strategy.

It all began in June, when Ocean mysteriously announced via teaser trailer that the album would be coming out by July. That left a relatively short period of time for promotion, but Team Ocean made the most of it. Just within the past week, the buzz spiked when Ocean opened up about his sexuality mere days before his cover profile in last Sunday’s New York Times Arts & Leisure section.

When asked Sunday night whether Ocean’s semi-coming out affected the album’s marketing plan, Def Jam president Joie Manda told EW in an e-mail, “Absolutely not. You have to understand that Frank’s letter last week was in NO WAY intended to impact the marketing of this record. Like all things with Frank, it was a carefully measured, very personal decision.”

Manda said then that the label’s “plans remain the same: to support Frank Ocean’s creativity and artistry and allow him the freedom to continue building the very special relationship he’s cultivated with his fans.”

Fiona Apple tells Jimmy Fallon about her famous meltdown, plays two songs: Watch it here

Fiona Apple had some ‘splaining to do last night.

During her appearance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, the host brought up Apple’s now-infamous 2000 Roseland Ballroom meltdown — which, as it happens, was preceded by a ten-minute comedy act from Fallon himself.

“The whole thing was crazy,” Fallon said, recalling how he was having a drink with Apple’s then-boyfriend when it all went down. “I was worried about you, pal.”

Apple addressed the issue by asserting her humanity. “The short answer is that I’m a human being,” she said. “And that I was reacting to life.”

The singer says she was feeling “overwhelmed” at the time, citing her Saturday Night Live appearance that month.

“I started crying” she continued. “And I could not physically stop crying. I couldn’t.”

Watch her interview with Fallon in the video below:

Beyonce set to perform on 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon' this Thursday -- EXCLUSIVE

Jimmy Fallon‘s adding a heavy dose of girl power to his Late Night show this Thursday: Beyoncé.

On July 28 Queen B, who’s out promoting her latest album 4, will hit the stage to sing “Best Thing I Never Had,” and she’ll be backed by Jimmy house band The Roots.

It’s a great booking for both Jimmy and Beyoncé. Fallon shows he can roll with the Lenos and Lettermans when it comes to booking top-tier talent, And Bey shows that Oprah farewells and major award shows aren’t the only things she’ll get out of bed for.

I’m looking forward to seeing what she brings to Fallon; will she crank things up like she did at the 2011 Billboard Awards? Or take it down a few notches and do something a bit more intimate? Will Questlove get a slow dance? We’ll see.

Excited for Thursday night’s show? Let us know.
