Beyonce's 'Grown Woman' finds its way online

Beyoncé may not be pregnant with a second child, but she is apparently ready to birth some new music.

Though she’s been teasing bits and pieces of different tracks (theoretically from a forthcoming album that has no title or release date), there hasn’t been a full new Bey song—until now.

“Grown Woman,” which was previewed a little ways back via a Pepsi spot, made its way online late last night. It’s clearly a leak, since the various streams of the track have been rapidly taken down over the course of the morning, but if you want to check it out you can stream it hereREAD FULL STORY »

Rihanna and Eminem get 'Numb': Hear the leak here

Let the Unapologetic era begin.

Now that Rihanna’s seventh album in seven years is hitting streets, people are getting a jump on assessing the record’s other, non-Chris Brown collaborations — particularly the Eminem track, “Numb.”

Fans expecting something in the vein of “Love the Way You Lie” will likely be disappointed. The trippy track is built around a syrupy, slowed-and-throwed beat and a distorted vocal sample from Kanye West’s oldie-but-goodie hit “Can’t Tell Me Nothing.” The song trudges along for two-plus warped minutes before Eminem jumps in, spiking the cut with a quick but effectively weird verse.

Give “Numb” a listen below and let us know what you think: READ FULL STORY »

Madonna-MDNA_320.jpg

It seems like only yesterday we were discussing how a song off Madonna’s upcoming album MDNA was leaked. Oh right, that’s because that’s exactly what we were doing yesterday.

A mere 24 hours after fans heard a one minute snippet of the leaked “Superstar” (a pop ditty awfully reminiscent of old-school Madonna that features the musical debut of Madonna’s daughter Lourdes Leon), yet another track from MDNA has hit the web. This one’s called”Falling Free.” Take a listen below and consider what so many leaks, so little time could mean for Madonna.

Madonna’s daughter Lourdes Leon, 15, has been slowly edging her way into the spotlight by attending New York’s Famed LaGuardia High School, co-designing the Material Girl line with her famous mom, and acting in an online sweepstakes viral video for the brand.

Today marks another move forward — “Lola” sings back-up on “Superstar,” the latest track to leak from MDNA (out March 26). Hear a snippet of the song below.

Madonna fan arrested for 'Give Me All Your Luvin' leak

A Spanish man has been arrested in connection with the leak of Madonna’s forthcoming single “Give Me All Your Luvin’.” The 31-year-old Zaragozan resident’s name has not been released, though his initials have — J.M.R. — and the detail that he’s “a big Madonna fan,” according to MTV. At the time, Madonna and her manager insisted, “My true fans wouldn’t do this,” then pleaded, “Whoever is responsible for this leak, we ask that you please stop!”

Alas, they did not. Less than a month later, “Masterpiece,” the Golden Globe-nominated ballad from Madonna’s directorial effort, W.E., hit the Internet in an incident that hasn’t been linked to J.M.R. Of today’s news, Madonna’s publicist Liz Rosenberg affirmed, “Madonna takes leaks very seriously” but could not comment further on the ongoing investigation. The video for “Luvin,” which features Nicki Minaj and M.I.A., is expected to premiere early next year.

Chord Overstreet solo track 'Beautiful Girl' leaks! Listen here

He may have just made his triumphant return to Glee (with some swoon-worthy pining for Mercedes) but Chord Overstreet is also making some sweet music on his own.

In this just-leaked clip for a new original song, “Beautiful Girl,” Overstreet leaves McKinley High behind and sings a sweet piano-accompanied ode to the girl of his dreams. Sorry, Santana — it’s probably safe to say it’s not you.

With its upbeat melody and boy-band-ready odes of love for lyrics, the song will undoubtedly be a hit with the Glee set — no surprise from the guy who gave a pretty killer Justin Bieber impression last season.

Madonna debuts new song 'Masterpiece' -- and we might like it

Madonna has been off the musical radar for a while, but she’s getting an early start on her expected reign over 2012. She’s officially performing at the Super Bowl, and there’s also a new song called “Masterpiece” that is slated to be included on both her upcoming new album as well as the soundtrack to her film W.E.

The version streaming online sounds a little hollow, but overall “Masterpiece” is an uncluttered presentation that recalls the Material Girl’s outre mid-’90s period, which saw the birth of an eclectic batch of hits like “I’ll Remember” and “Take a Bow.” Both of those songs share a certain vibe with “Masterpiece,” which has the same kind of moody, direct energy and sound. Madge’s voice sounds particularly sharp, without distracting digital correction.

All in all, it’s pretty gorgeous, and quite a ways away from the four-on-the-floor club tracks that have littered her previous two albums Hard Candy and Confessions on a Dance Floor. Give “Masterpiece” a spin here.

Madonna's 'Give Me All Your Luvin' leaks, is unlikely to get what it demands -- LISTEN

Madonna’s single “Give Me All Your Luvin” leaked yesterday, and perhaps to diehard fans it sounds like synthed-up angels singing hallelujahs.

For many of us though, it’s more like the musical equivalent of a bouquet of hydrangeas. Madonna and manager Guy Oseary quickly responded that the leak was merely a demo and that completed versions of her new tracks won’t be released officially until the new year. That said, if this is the musical direction, Madonna is taking, it’s not a good omen. Hear the track — and our take on it — here: READ FULL STORY »

Drake's new album 'Take Care' leaks; is it a bigger story now when albums don't?

drake

Some time between Saturday night and Sunday morning, the entirety of Drake’s Take Care, the followup to his breakout 2010 debut Thank Me Later, found its way onto the Internet.

As news of the leak spread, Twitter exploded with chatter about it, and while any artists get extremely rankled when their music gets out prior to the release date (and, of course, for free), Drake himself was pretty casual about it. “Listen, enjoy it, buy it if you like it…and take care until next time,” he tweeted late last night.

The idea of an album leaking isn’t really a story. After all, pretty much everything leaks, and the timeline for Take Care is about right (the release date is next Tuesday, November 15, which means the finished album probably got lifted somewhere along the lines of production).

Drake’s casual reaction is the right one. After all, if people hadn’t gone out of their way to leak his album, that probably means people weren’t interested in the first place. An album leak is something of a validation, and though it may also feel like a backhanded (and bad for business) compliment, it still tells the artist, “You are big enough to steal from.”

It will probably cost Drake a little bit in album sales, but research shows that for a guy in Drake’s position, leaks don’t have as negative an impact as you might think — the logic being that people who will download the leak were unlikely to purchase the album in the first place. Plus, considering Drake himself had unleashed no fewer than six of the tracks from Take Care himself (including “Crew Love,” which showed up on Saturday on a radio station in Toronto), there was already plenty of Drake music out there for people to take.

In reality, it’s a bigger story when albums don’t leak. READ FULL STORY »
