Linkin Park's 'New Divide' video: Watch it here

Linkin Park unveiled their first song in two years, "New Divide," last month. Now they've released a video for the tune, which will spearhead the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen soundtrack. (Speaking of, EW's cover story Q&A with Megan Fox is a must-read. The lady pretty much redefines what it means to be "outspoken.")

The song may be typical Linkin Park, but the video is impressive, seamlessly incorporating scenes from the movie in a surprisingly creative way. And while the band is just doing a by-the-numbers performance, the video's special effects illuminates them with fiery blue and red colors. Watch the video below, and check out Clark Collis' interview with Mike Shinoda for further details about LP's upcoming album.

Mikeshinoda_lMike Shinoda has a new pair of sneakers. We don’t mean that the Linkin Park rapper has acquired fresh footwear (though he probably has). We are referring to the fact that you can now buy the latest sneakers designed by Shinoda for DC Shoes (the proceeds of which help students at his alma mater, the Arts Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.) After the break, EW speaks to Shinoda about this sideline, the new Linkin Park album, and why he likes (most) of the new Transformers movie.

Linkin Park returns for new 'Transformers' tune: Welcome back?

Linkin Park are back after a near two-year hiatus (don’t pretend you haven’t missed them), and have debuted their song "New Divide" at radio, iTunes and on their official site. The track will be featured on the soundtrack to this summer’s Transformers sequel, Revenge of the Fallen, with Shia LeBeouf. (Side note: LeBeouf is now apparently a music video director. LeStrange.)

Transformers is a big, loud, dumb noise-fest (essentially a videogame masquerading as a movie), so the pairing with Linkin Park makes sense. (Plus, the band had a song on the soundtrack for the first movie, too.) So how’s the new tune? Not bad, actually, if heavy on a dose of the self-serious. It just features vocals from Chester Bennington though, so those expecting some rhymes might be disappointed. But midway through there’s a robo-riff that will surely melt the faces off of plenty of angsty teens. A video is forthcoming, to be directed by the band’s resident DJ, Joe Hahn. Listen to "New Divide" below and decide: Classic Linkin Park, or classic radio-rock garbage?
